According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Red Flag Warning has been issued for ALL of east Central Florida today. This warning comes amid low relative humidity, gusty west-northwest winds, and dry fuels and extends to Osceola and Orange counties, where Disney World is located.

The National Weather Service stated that any new or existing fires “will have the potential to spread rapidly.” The warning is in effect from now through 6 PM on Thursday, March 6th, 2025. Here’s what you need to know.
A Red Flag Warning occurs when critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or will shortly. More specifically, the combination of wind conditions, low humidity, and temperature are highly unfavorable and can contribute to “extreme fire behavior.”

The National Weather Service has flagged several areas in East Central Florida, including:
- Inland Volusia County
- Northern Lake County
- Orange County
- Seminole County
- Osceola County
- Okeechobee County
- Coastal Volusia County
- Southern County
- Lake County
- Coastal Indian River County
- Coastal Saint Lucie County
- Coastal County
- Martin County
- Inland Northern Brevard County
- Inland Indian River County
- Inland Saint Lucie County
- Inland Martin County
- Mainland Northern County
- Brevard County
- Northern Brevard Barrier Islands
- Inland Southern County
- Mainland Southern Brevard County
- Southern Brevard Barrier Islands

During this time, fires could ignite easily and spread quickly, so outdoor burning is discouraged. The NWS reported west/northwest winds with speeds between 15 and 20 miles per hour, with gusts around 30 miles per hour.

While those visiting Disney World are in the Red Flag zone, we don’t expect any major changes to happen within the parks and resorts. As a reminder, outdoor burning is discouraged, so you may see warnings at places like Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. At this time, Disney has not released any statements about the alert.

We recommend you check for local weather alerts over the next 24 hours to stay informed as the situation changes. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Orlando news, so stay tuned for more.
