Not all Disney dining is created equal.

As anyone who has gone to Disney World knows, there are a litany of restaurant options available on property. Beyond that, the quality of returns can ebb and flow over time. We did a once-over of the most recent restaurant reviews from YOU our readers, and some of the best ones surprised us. Based on these reviews, you definitely should revisit these restaurants ASAP!
Located at the Boardwalk Resort, Trattoria al Forno’s artisanal Italian menu provides a “tempting array of regional specialties and crowd-pleasing classics according to Disney. Recently, we received not one, but TWO highly positive reviews of the restaurant.

The first, from reader Shageek77 on December 24th, hailed the restaurant’s breakfast offerings. The wrote, “Oh my the breakfast here! Try the breakfast! Hidden gem! Yum yum! No kidding!!! We had the steak and eggs and Tiramisu French toast/pudding and pressed coffee. Both of these were excellent! Steak was perfectly cooked as were the eggs and potatoes. The potatoes were crispy and egg was perfectly runny. The French toast/pudding was rich but not too sweet They also know how to cook bacon! Our waiter was attentive and friendly with excellent advice and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting!”

About a month before on November 29th, an anonymous reviewer wrote, “Just had thanksgiving dinner here 2024 and it was wonderful. The service was on point. Everyone working all CM’s changing over tables and setting up clean tables. Working together. Carrying out food for other cm’s. Even the Manager was on the floor the entire time we were there. Rounding on tables, busing tables, and anything needed, extraordinary! Her Cm were appreciative and all worked together. Tables of families were huge and they were all covered. Including my lil table of 2. Which could easily of been forgotten. But wasn’t. We had the same great and attentive service. Food was perfect. I went traditional turkey dinner and sis had the Lasagna. Both were extraordinarily delicious!”

They also went out of their way to credit the restaurant’s staff, adding at the end, “Shout out to Stina our wonderful CM waitstaff! This wasn’t our first choice for dinner on the holiday > but so happy it happened. Thank you all.”
Moving on to the Ale and Compass Restaurant, the New England-themed restaurant located at the Yacht Club resort offers “comfort food and classic seafood dishes in a coastal-inspired restaurant that’s reminiscent of a cozy lighthouse.”

Reader DVCSammy gave the restaurant a glowing review “Lovely breakfast buffet at ALE & COMPASS! With the buffet just a few bucks more than the entrees, there is no competition, especially since the buffet includes any entree of your choice! A small but perfect buffet that includes fresh fruits, pasteries and a lovely biscuits and gravy that became my appretizer + dessert!! My DARK CHOCOLATE WAFFLES were sinfully good with the dark cherries atop and weren’t so big that it would completely fill you up!! THANKS ALE & COMPASS, the perfect start of the day!!”

That wasn’t DVCSammy’s only positive review this month however, as they also had glowingly positive things to say about Steakhouse 71 at the Contemporary Resort.

They wrote that after feeling “famished after the 5K”, they popped in to the “stylish but casual” steakhouse to try they’re Stack Burger. According to DVCSammy, the burger was, “Perfectly-sized (don’t be afraid to order soup) and completely scrumptious .. .. The pork belly just added to a perfectly-cooked burger .. .. I don’t think there are many burgers as good as this and if there is, that list is very short .. .. Add the Stack Burger to the must-haves on every WDW trip!!”

Finally, reader Derby dropped us a review of the Polynesian Resort’s ‘Ohana. According to Derby, they and their family had eaten at ‘Ohana numerous times from 1996 through 2015, but were “concerned” for their most recent visit following some recent negative reviews. We’ll let them take the story from there…

“We wanted to give it another try and I am glad that we did. At no time were we ever rushed and the courses were brought out in a timely manner. Food was hot and very very tasty. While talking with our long-time waitress, I had told her of our long-time patronage but were worried about dining there due to the negative reviews. She admitted that there were problems over the pre-Covid and Covid years but that the issues have been sorted out. To conclude the review, it was very good and I am glad to have revisited an old favorite of mine.”

Agree with a lot of this. Trattoria was a hidden gem we discovered for breakfast while waiting to leave for an early flight. Delicious.
Just ate at Steakhouse 71 again recently. The food was great but what was even better was the attentive, friendly, customer centered wait staff. They were over and above anything I’ve experienced at wdw in a very long time.
Also recently experienced Ohana for dinner after swearing I was done with it after both very bad breakfast and dinner experiences. Well something’s turned around, because as the author said, I never felt rushed. The food was warm, not salty or greasy and the pacing was pretty good. Wait staff there still needs to be better trained but overall a great improvement over recent years.
