It’s about to be a BUSY week in Disney World!

Why, you may ask? The holidays are over, and people are going back to school and work soon, so why all the crowds? Well, for one, next weekend kicks off the first runDisney event of the year, but it appears that several of the Disney World parks are sold out for guests on Monday, January 6th. Strange? Not to Disney experts!
When we took a look at the park availability calendar, we noticed that Magic Kingdom is totally sold out on Monday, January 6th! Yes, this means those with non-date-based tickets and Annual Passholders cannot get a park pass reservation. Note that reservations are coming and going, but Magic Kingdom seems to be consistently listed as unavailable. From time to time, it looks like Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are also selling out on January 6th, so check that calendar before your visit!

Now, as we mentioned, the first runDisney event of the year is happening soon, and we expect to see a lot of racers in Disney World on Monday. Be prepared for crowds in the parks! Later in the week, certain roads around Disney World will be closed in the early parts of the morning, so if you are visiting during this time, make sure to pencil in some extra travel time to the parks.

January 6th is also the first night of Magic Kingdom’s After Hours events, so you might see the crowd pattern look a little different around Disney World. In fact, this event is sold out on January 6th, 2025.

After Hours events allow you to experience the Disney World parks with limited capacity and shorter wait times! Oh, and the best part is that you can enjoy complimentary snacks and soft drinks throughout the evening.

Speaking of big things happening on January 6th, Magic Kingdom is about to take on some massive changes. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closes for a lengthy refurbishment beginning on January 6th. This project will last for at least a year.

So, what does all this mean for your trip? Expect long lines and lots of crowds, and be sure to pack your patience! We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest Disney World news, so stay tuned to AllEars.
