If you consider yourself a Disney fan, you should know all about Richard and Robert Sherman. This pair of brothers had an incredible talent for composing music. They even wrote Walt Disney’s favorite song, “Feed the Birds,” from Mary Poppins.
Speaking of “Feed the Birds,” anyone who knows that song knows it’s a real tear-jerker. The Sherman brothers know how to strike a chord — literally and figuratively. Disney just released a new short film on Disney+ called The Last Verse, and in true Sherman brothers form, this will make you cry.
The Sherman brothers wrote some of Disney’s most famous songs. They wrote the score for The Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, and other films. The duo also worked on a Disney attraction. You know the song that plays on “it’s a small world”? That’s the Sherman brothers!
Earlier this year, Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman passed away on May 25th, 2024 at age 95. In honor of Richard Sherman and the 60th anniversary of the “it’s a small world” song, Disney released a new short film. It’s a beautiful film with so much love. You HAVE to check it out.
So, what makes it so special? Disney notes, “As his last contribution to Disney and to further influence the song’s message, Richard wrote a third, final verse for “it’s a small world.”” It’s the ACTUAL last verse. Yeah, we told you it’s a tear-inducing short film.
Talk about the perfect gift for the holidays — this tribute perfectly embraces the spirit of “it’s a small world.” In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
