Disney World is changing!

We can’t believe it has already been two months since all the exciting announcements came out of D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. It was announced that Disney World would be getting eight new attractions, but unfortunately, this news also meant that other attractions and parts of the parks would close to accommodate these latest announcements. For a while, we have just been speculating based on loose timelines and checking for construction permits, but we now know the official closing date of three attractions.
It was announced that DinoLand U.S.A. would close to make way for the new Tropical-Americas-themed land, Pueblo Esperanza. This new land will be home to three brand-new attractions, including an Indiana Jones ride, an Encanto ride, and a carousel. Work on the land is planned to be done in phases and will be complete by 2027.

Construction permits have been filed for DinoLand U.S.A., but no closing date was announced. Disney did say that construction would start this fall, but it assured fans that they’ll “still have plenty of time to experience DINOSAUR again (and get that dino).”

But now the first closures have been announced. TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will all close permanently on January 13th, 2025. Your last day to experience these offerings will be January 12th, 2025.

This will be the first phase of closures for DinoLand U.S.A., as other parts of the land like DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus will also close for the retheme.

DinoLand U.S.A. is not the only part of the park that will eventually close. It was also announced that a new show would come to the Tree of Life in the winter of 2025. It’s Tough to be a Bug! will eventually close to make way for Zootopia: Better Zoogether! No closing date has been announced yet, but we expect one soon, as the attraction will open in a little over a year.

While we are sad about the DinoLand news, we are so excited that it will have one more holiday season! Plus, you will finally be able to meet Santa Claus in Animal Kingdom. Before, he would be on the waterways throughout the holiday season, but now you will be able to meet him at the 75th Annual Dino Institute Holiday Party on the patio at Restaurantosaurus! He will be meeting and greeting from November 12th through December 24th.

We will continue to keep an eye out for any closure and construction news across Disney World, so make sure to continue to follow along with AllEars!
First came with my 6 year old grandson and had a blast. Came back 5 years later with the Granddaughters it still was fun but somethings had been shut down besides that we still had a good time. Will miss it when we go back in 2026.
