I Cannot Overstate How Terrible These Disney World Snacks Are (So Here’s What to Get Instead)

The options for snacking in Disney World are almost limitless!

From classics like Mickey Pretzels and Caramel Apples to new finds like a Mickey Chocolate Choux, we are covering which snacks are worth the purchase and which ones you should avoid.

There are lots of snack options at Disney World! It can be overwhelming when you have the urge for a certain type of snack to determine the best option. So, we want to talk about some of our least favorite snacks and what you should get instead!

Don’t Get: Churros

Unfortunately, the churros at Disney World just aren’t good. They are usually stale and way overpriced for what you get. Disneyland churros are an entirely different story, but at Disney World, we suggest skipping over the churros.

Churros in Magic Kingdom

You can find some decent churros in certain locations, but the run-of-the-mill churros you find at stands throughout the parks are likely going to leave you disappointed.

Instead, Get: Popcorn

Instead of churros, we recommend grabbing some popcorn. Popcorn is just as easy to find as churros and we think it is SO much tastier. Plus, you can get a refillable popcorn bucket for cheaper refills for the length of your stay!

The popcorn is full of buttery goodness and is the perfect snack to share with a group!

Don’t Get: Turkey Legs

We know Turkey Legs are a must-get for some people, but we think there are much better savory snack options. Turkey Legs are hard to eat, and we usually find them way too salty.

We can tell how Emma feels about turkey legs…

If you are looking for a savory snack option with meat, we have a few other recommendations that we think you should try!

Instead, Get: Cheeseburger Spring Rolls or Ronto Wrap

First up is the Cheeseburger Spring Rolls from the cart near the entrance to Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. The cart usually offers two types of spring rolls; right now, you can choose from cheeseburger or pepperoni pizza. We love these spring rolls, and they are much tastier than a turkey leg in our opinion.

Cheeseburger and Pepperoni Pizza Spring Rolls

We also recommend trying a Ronto Wrap from Ronto Roasters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Ronto Wrap is a sausage wrapped inside of pita with coleslaw on top and it is yummy and filling!

These two savory snacks are some of our favorites!

Don’t Get: Mickey Pretzels

As much as we love the look of the Mickey pretzel, if you are just wanting a tasty pretzel, we recommend you skip the Mickey Pretzel.

Mickey Pretzel and Cheese!

If you are going for some cute photos, by all means, grab a Mickey Pretzel, but we think you can get way better pretzels elsewhere in Disney World.

Instead, Get: A Better Pretzel from Baseline, Germany Pavilion, etc.

The reason we don’t recommend a Mickey Pretzel is because you can get some MUCH better pretzels from other places. We love the Bavarian Pretzel from Baseline Taphouse in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as the German pretzels from the Germany Pavilion in EPCOT.

Baseline Tap House Pretzel

We also think the Na’vi-sized pretzel from Pongu Pongu in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is delicious!

Don’t Get: Caramel Apples

Alright, we agree that there are some really good-looking Caramel Apples out there, but they are just SO hard to eat. Plus, all the caramel gets stuck in all the wrong places inside your mouth, and the taste just doesn’t seem to make up for the experience.

Pecan Praline Caramel Apple

If the Caramel Apple was easier to enjoy, we might not suggest avoiding it, but the struggle is real with trying to eat one.

Instead, Get: Caramel Treat from Germany Pavilion

If you are craving some caramel goodness, but without the difficulty of a caramel apple, a treat from Karamell-Küche is the perfect solution. While you can still find Caramel Apples here, we suggest trying the Caramel Butter Bar.

Caramel Butter Bar

The Caramel Butter Bar is full of buttery goodness and great caramel flavor. It’s also soft and easy to eat! Karamell-Küche also has other caramel treats available, so DO NOT miss this spot.

Don’t Get: Cupcakes

If you are in the mood for some cake and are willing to make a bit of a journey, we suggest skipping over the Disney World cupcakes. They usually aren’t bad, but they usually aren’t the best cupcakes you will ever have, either.

While some are really cute, they don’t always live up to how good they look. Instead, we suggest heading over to Disney Springs for some delicious cake that is not in cupcake form.

Instead, Get: Cake from Gideon’s Bakehouse

We suggest heading over to Gideon’s Bakehouse to pick up a slice of cake. Gideon’s Bakehouse is located in Disney Springs, and while this shop is pretty popular, we think the cake is worth the wait.

Cake Slice from Gideon’s

You will almost always find a line here, but if you are looking for some delicious cake, you need to stop by and grab a slice!

Don’t Get:  Ghost Cream Puff from ABC Commissary

This treat deserves its very own spot on this list because it was a huge disappointment. While the cream puff was cute, the flavor was not good. It was filled with a sour apple custard that was super sour and tangy.

Plus, the puff itself was almost bitter and tasted burnt. The combination of the really sour custard and bitter puff did not work well at all together.

Instead, Get: Mickey Chocolate Choux from Grand Floridian

Instead, we want to recommend the Mickey Chocolate Choux from Gasparilla Island Grill at the Grand Floridian Resort. This treat has the perfect amount of chocolate flavor, and the choux was fluffy with a great crunchiness.

Mickey Chocolate Choux

It may be a bit of a trek over to the Grand Floridian to get this treat, but we think this is a HUGE upgrade from the Ghost Cream Puff in Hollywood Studios.

  1. The one time I got a Turkey Leg in Magic Kingdom, I felt like I needed to shower afterwards. They should give them to you with a roll of paper towels. They are messy and you can smell and taste them the rest of the day. Compare them to any of the other snacks in the piece. The others are small in comparison, easy to eat, and don’t cause a huge mess. After eating the turkey leg the one time, I never did it again. I am surprised they still offer them.
