The Internet Is in a Tizzy Over Whether or Not This Disney World Hotel is Worth the $$$

Disney’s Riviera Resort is currently Disney World’s newest hotel.

Riviera Resort

Eventually, the Riviera Resort will lose this title when The Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows opens in December of this year. Nonetheless, the Riviera Resort is a gorgeous addition to the Disney World Resort line-up. While this resort is a Disney Vacation Club Resort, it falls into the Deluxe Resort tier

Deluxe Resorts are the most expensive resorts at Disney World. Value and Moderate are the other two tiers. Deluxe Resorts offers more amenities like larger rooms, more ideal locations (like being closer to a park), more dining options, and perks like Extended Evening Hours

The Riviera Resort just also happens to be the only Deluxe Resort on the Skyliner line. Its neighbor (and the resort it partially took over), Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, is in the Moderate tier. Disney’s Pop Century and Art of Animation Resorts are Value Resorts. Meaning if you want to stay at a Skyliner resort, you can choose from all three tiers.

Since the Riviera Resort is the most expensive on the Skyliner line, we asked our awesome readers if you all thought that the Riviera Resort was worth the money.

Many people love this resort. One reader said that the Skyliner’s usability makes it one of their favorite resorts. Another reader shared that they love all the food options, the artwork, the Skyliner access, and how compact the resort is. Previously, this reader had stayed in a one-bedroom and thought it was fantastic. They also said that this is their favorite resort, and the only thing they wish it had was a spa.

Another reader said, “Personally [I] loved the resort. We are DVC, and it was a lot of points just for a studio, but what about the sleeping options of the Murphy bed AND the small bed in the cabinet, plus the two bathrooms? Totally worth it. The food was excellent – we will go to Topolino’s Terrace anytime, anywhere we stay.”

While many readers said a lot of positive things about the resort, there are others who are a little more skeptical when it comes to staying at the Riviera Resort.

One reader said they don’t feel like this is worth Deluxe Resort money since they find the rooms to be too small. Another reader shared that after “looking at the pricey point chart and lack of theme, I don’t have much interest in staying there. Beach Club and BoardWalk Inn have fewer points, are highly themed, have better pools, and are in a better location than EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.”

Disney’s Riviera Resort

Another reader said that if they are paying with Disney Vacation Club points to stay here, then it is worth it; otherwise, if they have to pay out of pocket, they would skip it.

Well, there you have it, our readers both love and don’t think this resort is worth the money.

If you are looking for a resort that is on the Skyliner line, has excellent dining options, and offers the perks of a Deluxe Resort, then the Riviera might be for you. But if you are looking to save a little money but still want a nicer resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort may be a better fit for your stay.

  1. We just spent a week at Riviera. My wife and I were in a studio and the kids and grandkids were in a 2BR. This was our 6th different DVC resort, a nice use of our points. But if I had to pay cash for these rooms I would pass. It isn’t that big of an upgrade over other hotels, a bit too much hype.

  2. It’s OK just ok no Disney feel. small lobby needs a bar where lobby is. Only bar is
in back of resort by pool.
Mattress in 1 bedroom worst I’ve slept on in dvc in years other than that room is nice hallways nice gifts hope super small.
