Over the course of the past few weeks, Disney has announced a LOT of news about what’s coming to their theme parks.
We’ve known for a while now that DinoLand U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom was going to be rethemed, and now we know for sure it’ll be to a Tropical Americas theme with a “lived-in” feeling town called Pueblo Esperanza! While DINOSAUR will be replaced with an Indiana Jones attraction (a new one!), we’ll also see an Encanto attraction coming to the new land AND a new Carousel featuring tons of beloved Disney animal characters. We’ve looked at this concept art COUNTLESS times, and that’s how we finally noticed this TINY little detail that has us a little confused.
When we look at the concept art overall, we can really see how the land is taking shape.
We can clearly see where the Casita will be for the Encanto attraction, the temple for the Indiana Jones ride that will replace DINOSAUR, and can even see that it looks like a new restaurant space is taking over Restaurantosaurus (or that the existing building will just go through a retheme).
Seriously, we love how colorful the whole land looks, but as we were admiring it, we noticed something interesting near the Casita. Off to the left of the Casita, we see where the beautiful pink river (if we really get a pink river that will be SO cool) flows right next to a pathway leading off further into the Casita. However, off to the right…is that a shack?
Okay, yes, that’s 100% a random shack over to the right of the attraction...with seemingly no way to get to it. We can’t tell if it looks to be on the ground like the other buildings, or if it’s raised from the ground, almost like a treehouse.
Now, our first thought was that this could just be a building that will be used for Cast Members…but Disney doesn’t typically put those buildings on concept art. Our hope? We’d love this to be some sort of area guests can explore, but they have to REALLY be looking around the land to find it, kinda like Knockturn Alley in Hogsmeade in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando!
Could you imagine how COOL that would be? That’s what we’re choosing to believe for now, rather than that Disney’s just put a random building there to fill space (why not make it trees instead though…?) and will take it away when the land is done. A less exciting idea is that it could be a restroom for guests to use that’s put out of the way so it doesn’t mess up the theming of the area.
We’re soaking up our last few months of DinoLand U.S.A. because we also know that construction on this area will begin in the fall of THIS YEAR! It will be done in sections, however, so the entirety of DinoLand won’t close at once. We’re assuming (key word being assuming!) that one of the first areas to go will be the DinoRama area and TriceraTop Spin, but they likely won’t touch DINOSAUR for a little while longer.
