We attended the Entertainment Panel at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, and let’s just say that Disney shared A LOT of news about what to expect in the next few years.
From movies to television shows, and even new Broadway musicals, Disney and Pixar have a huge lineup of new entertainment coming to theaters, Disney+, and Broadway in the next three years.
The hype in the audience was real as we got to learn more about already announced TV shows and movies, and even learn about some exciting additions for the first time! Let’s dive into ALL of the announcements from the Entertainment Panel.
Agatha All Along (September 18th, 2024)
We got a sneak peek at this new show back in July, but now we have a full trailer for Agatha All Along! This show will be premiering on Disney+ with a two-episode premiere on September 18th, 2024.
Moana 2 (November 27th, 2024)
The Rock and Auli’i Cravalho made an appearance to promote the new Moana 2 movie and we even got to view the official trailer for the movie. This highly-anticipated sequel is scheduled to release in theaters on November 27th, 2024.
Star Wars Skeleton Crew (December 3rd, 2024)
The panel included a first-look at the new Star Wars series Skeleton Crew. The first look features a group of children stumbling across a lost Jedi temple, and it looks like Jude Law may just be our newest Jedi. This new series will debut with a two-episode premiere on December 3rd, 2024 on Disney+.
Pixar’s Win or Lose Original Series (December 6th, 2024)
Disney also announced that Pixar is set to release its first ever original series on December 6th, 2024. This series will be called Win or Lose and will follow, “the intertwined stories of eight different characters as they each prepare for their big championship softball game.” Win or Lose will reveal what it is actually like in the shoes of each character.
Mufasa (December 20th, 2024)
Disney released a new trailer for the upcoming movie, Mufasa. This movie will follow along as we discover how Mufasa came to be. Mufasa is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 20th, 2024.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (2024)
We also got a teaser trailer for the Wizards of Waverly Place reboot that is scheduled to premiere later this year. The new series will focus on Justin (the returning David Henrie) having given up his powers for a normal life with his family, only to get drawn back into the world of magic by a young wizard named Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) who seeks his guidance.
Captain America: Brave New World (February 14th, 2025)
Kevin Feige and Anthony Mackie also came on-stage to discuss Captain America: Brave New World and share an exclusive clip from the movie. This movie is set to release in theaters on February 14th, 2025.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (March 21st, 2025)
During the panel, we also got a new trailer for Snow White. This movie is a live-action version of Disney’s iconic animated film. Snow White stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot and will be released in theaters on March 21st, 2025.
Elio (June 13th, 2025)
While this movie was originally set to release in 2024, it has been pushed back until June 13th, 2025. However, even though we have to wait a bit longer, we think the wait will be worth it and the movie looks gorgeous. The film is about Elio, “an underdog with an active imagination, finds himself inadvertently beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide.
Zootopia 2 (November 2025)
We also got confirmation that Zootopia 2 is coming! At the panel we got a first look at this movie that is set to release in theaters in November 2025. The voice of Judy Hopps, Ginnifer Goodwin was on hand at D23 to discuss the upcoming sequel.
Avatar: Fire and Ash (December 19th, 2025)
Disney also announced the title for the newest Avatar movie. The next movie will be named Avatar: Fire and Ash and is set to release in theaters on December 19th, 2025. James Cameron came on stage to speak about the new movie, and while we didn’t see any footage, James Cameron said that, “the new film is not what you expect, but it’s definitely what you want.”
Live-Action Lilo & Stitch (2025)
We also got a first-look at Stitch from the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie. While we knew this movie was already in the works as they had cast a live-action Lilo, this was our first look at Stitch. This live-action movie is slated to be released in 2025.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 (2025)
The next season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is currently in production and we got a first look at the new season. This next season will be based on The Sea of Monsters, which is the second book in the best-selling book series by Rick Riordan. Disney did not announce an exact release date, but they are expecting the new season to release on Disney+ in 2025.
Freakier Friday (2025)
While we knew a sequel to the 2003 film, Freaky Friday, was in the works, we now know the official title! The film is called Freakier Friday and will debut in 2025. The sequel will once again star Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.
Dream Productions (2025)
As well, a new television series set inside the Inside Out universe will be coming to Disney+ in 2025. The series will follow the Dream Studio within Riley’s mind that was featured in both Inside Out films.
Andor Season 2 (2025)
The panel also included the star of Andor, Diego Luna, coming on stage to share his thoughts about the upcoming second season of the show. The second season will be streaming on Disney+ in 2025.
David Blaine: Do Not Attempt (2025)
David Blaine was also in attendance to announce his new show, David Blaine: Do Not Attempt. His announcement also included a giant interactive magic trick that had audience members open up “Do Not Open” envelopes. What resulted was a giant interactive magic trick with all 12,000 audience members participating!
Frozen Broadway Musical (2025) and Frozen 3 (November 24th, 2027)
The Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, Jennifer Lee, confirmed that Frozen 3 will be released Thanksgiving weekend in 2027. Additionally, Disney also mentioned that the story will probably go beyond a third movie. That means that Frozen 4 is also very likely to become a reality! As well, a filmed version of the Frozen Broadway musical will debut on Disney+ in 2025.
Toy Story 5 (June 19th, 2026)
While we already knew about this movie and the anticipated release date, we got even more details about this film from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Andrew Stanton will be both directing and writing this film. In this movie, the toys will have to go head to head with electronics making their jobs harder than ever! The movie is set to release in theaters on June 19th, 2026.
Hoppers (March 6th, 2026)
A new Pixar film called Hoppers will be debuting in theaters on March 6th, 2026. This movie will star John Hamm, Bobby Moynihan, and Piper Curda. Disney and Pixar did not announce too many details about this movie, but we are excited nonetheless.
Mandalorian & Grogu Movie (2026)
Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni also took the stage to talk about the Mandalorian movie which is set to come to the big screen in 2026.
Incredibles 3 (TBA)
We also got a huge surprise! Disney confirmed that Incredibles 3 is currently in the works. We last got to join the Incredibles in Incredibles 2 in 2018. Disney did not announce time timeline for the movie or what the movie will be about, but we can’t wait to hear more.
The Greatest Showman — The New Musical (TBA)
The movie, The Greatest Showman, will be headed to Broadway. While Disney did not share too many details about the new production, we got to hear an arrangement at the D23 panel and it was SO good!
Hercules Broadway Musical (TBA)
In addition the The Greatest Showman musical, a Hercules Broadway musical is also set to debut. We got a sneak peek at this new musical during the panel as well.
