Gen X Disney Adults Have a Hot Take on Planning Disney World Trips…and Honestly, They’re Not Wrong

Are you ready for some Disney controversy?

Who plans the best Disney World vacations? With the growing challenges of planning a trip thanks to all the digital pre-planning, ever-changing landscape, hidden catches, and crazy amount of variables that popped up in the last half-decade, visiting Disney World has never been trickier. That’s why one generation is proud to say they plan their trips the best.

We wrote a story about how Gen Z and Millenial Disney Adults can’t agree who plans a better Disney World vacation, but many Gen X Disney Adults chimed in to make it known that the answer is NEITHER! According to many of our Gen X readers, the MTV Generation is ACTUALLY the undisputed champion of Disney World planning. Honestly, they made some valid points.

Spaceship Earth

Gen Xers, which includes the birth years from 1965 to 1980, were quick to point out that they had perfected the art of Disney World planning after passing the trial by fire.

Before social media and video assistance — heck, even before us — Disney World planning had to be done with the guidance of maps and books. There was no TikTok, no YouTube, and no other social media to help you plan in short order.

Gen X has had to do things the hard way when it comes to visiting Disney World, and it has generally helped make them Disney World experts.

Now, that’s not to say they don’t use social media — they definitely do. The difference is that Gen X now has the vast wealth of knowledge they’ve acquired from their previous studies to perfectly blend with modern social media planning aids.

That leads to the most important point: Gen X has done this for a long time. Per our readers, they know when to relax and when it’s appropriate to rev up activity. They’ve lived through some MASSIVE Disney World changes and know what to prioritize and what to skip. This is not Gen X’s first rodeo.

So ultimately, Gen X’s main argument is that experience matters when it comes to Disney World planning, and that’s a tough theory to debate against.

Hey, Mickey!

It’s fun to debate which generation does Disney World the best, but in truth, it’s all an individual experience. At the end of the day, the best thing you can do in the modern age, regardless of your age range, is to be as prepared as possible before your Disney trip so that you have an amazing experience with each visit. That’s where we can help.

  1. As a member of Generation X, my wife and I planned many trips with the Birnbaum books. We go online for planning now, but honestly, that’s mainly to check for updates (and visiting here to see the menus in advance).

  2. Gen X was not the first generation to use books to research WDW trips – Baby Boomers were reading about WDW before it was built! So, I argue that Baby Boomers are the best planning generation. 🙂

    1. I agree! They have all kinds of experience, and they are generous in planning and providing multi-generation family trips to share the magic.
