HEADS UP! The Mobile Order PROBLEM You Could Run Into at Disney World Hotels

Getting food at quick service locations in Disney World became a lot less stressful and time-consuming once Mobile Order started popping up everywhere.

Order Ahead

Granted, there are still SOME restaurants that don’t offer Mobile Order (EPCOT, we’re looking at you). However, of those that do, we have come across a few problems, including one you might not expect, particularly if you’re ordering food at a Disney World hotel.

This problem only arises occasionally, but we wanted to remind you about it. If you’re visiting Disney World during a busier time (say like the busy 4th of July weekend), you may be unable to choose where you can Mobile Order food at Disney World hotels.

If you’re not a guest at a specific hotel, you may not be able to Mobile Order food there, even if you’re visiting that hotel at the time. In that case, the following message could come up, like this message that we got recently when trying to Mobile Order food from Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

As we mentioned, this isn’t always the case, but we saw it recently when looking at both Gasparilla Island Grill and Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This seems to be most common at these two locations. We also checked Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Mobile Order was still available there for everyone.

If you’re visiting Disney World during a busy time, you’ll want to keep that in mind. Before you decide to head to a hotel to mobile order food, we recommend checking out the restaurant on the My Disney Experience app first.

Are you new to Mobile Order in Disney World? Learn all about it here. It can really save you a bit of time to order ahead. Pro tip: place your mobile orders well ahead of peak dining times in Disney World when the parks are busy. You can then set the time to pick up your mobile order (and this will guarantee you get it faster than if you wait to place that order on the app later).

  1. yes, we use it frequently…but a question for you…At Shades of Green, there is a restaurant (Manginos) that has an awesome menu with pricing to boot…Is this restaurant available for Disney Resort guests not staying at Shades.?

    1. Hi Rob! According to the Shades of Green website you will be asked to provide a valid military I.D. to access the Shades of Green property, as well as show your valid I.D. at the restaurant, but you do not have to be staying there to do so. You do have to have a valid military I.D., however.
