We’ve got our eyes on Disney World weather this week.

With the long-anticipated full grand opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure scheduled for this coming Friday, June 28th, this week promises to be one of lasting importance in Disney World history. However, it looks like the weather may not cooperate.
Weather has long played an important part in Disney World’s history. In fact, the area’s subtropical climate — which would allow the resort to remain open all year round — is a big part of why Walt and his Imagineers chose Central Florida for the location of the “Florida Project” in the first place. However, that same subtropical climate leads to periods of intense heat and rain, both of which will be happening in abundance this week.
The upcoming forecast for this week features temperatures EVERY single day this week. On top of that, six of the week’s seven days feature at least a 60% chance of rain (with the only day that doesn’t, Thursday, featuring a 50% of rain.

The projected forecast for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure’s opening day features a high of 92 degrees, with a 60% of rain. In other words, not exactly a guaranteed wash-out, but probably not the kind of weather day Disney was hoping for.

If you find yourself in Walt Disney World this coming week, there are definitely some things you can do to mitigate the effects of the weather.
When it comes to the heat, we’d recommend:
- Wearing comfortable, light clothing.
- Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Wearing sunglasses, a cap, and SPF lotion to shield from the sun.
- Carrying a small fan and cooling towel for relief while sitting in a long line.
Arguably most importantly, listen to your body. As tempting as it can be to try and “gut it out” to “make your money’s worth” from your Disney day, it’s not worth your health. Take breaks, and if you need to need to tap out on a long line, or even a whole park day, do so if it’s the best option for your health.

It’s also smart if you prepare for the rain. Keep a poncho in your bag, as well as a fresh shirt, and even a pair of socks or underwear just in case you do get soaked in the rain.
