Did you know that you can bring snacks inside Disney parks?

This is a big game changer for many people, especially those who are trying to save money wherever they can. Buying snacks from the grocery store and bringing them into the parks is much cheaper than buying them in the parks, and that also means you’ll have groceries in your hotel room to have at night/during your resort day(s). However, there are some items we DO NOT recommend bringing into the parks.
Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches can be great to bring into the park…until they get smushed and it’s not double bagged and now your bag is covered in peanut butter and jelly.

So what should you bring instead? If you have a smaller separate pocket in your bag, we recommend bringing in peanut butter crackers instead. Yes, these can crack and break and be a little harder to eat, but crumbs are a lot easier to clean up than sticky peanut butter and jelly. Or, you can grab some Simple Modern Disney Reusable Snack Bags online and be sure your snacks are packed up safely and won’t spill.

These come in a three packs and you can choose from over 10 different designs.
Chocolate and Caramel
Trust us, we know how lovely it is to grab a chocolate or caramel snack out of your bag and get that burst of sugar, but things get HOT in Disney World, and both of these will melt so fast. Once again, a mess in your bag, and it’s almost impossible to eat when it’s melted and gross.

Instead, to get the sugar you’re craving, bring some things that won’t melt, like Laffy Taffys, Air Heads, and packets of fruit snacks. These are easy to pack, and you won’t have to worry about them ruining everything in your bag. However, if you know you’ll need a little sweetness to get through the day, grab a Pyrex Platinum Silicone 4-Pc Storage Set.

These are a great way to make sure that the chocolate or caramel doesn’t spread all over your bag. And then you can just wash these out and use them again!
No Fruit
What?! No fruit? Why are we against being healthy? Well, we’re not, we love being healthy! But the problem with fruit (especially bananas and berries) is that the moment something shifts wrong in your bag — SPLAT. It’s been smushed and now everything is covered in fruit goo (one of our writers speaks from experience, it’s not fun).

Instead, bring those fruit snacks we talked about earlier, or even better, those fruit/applesauce pouches that don’t have to be refrigerated. These will give you that fruit flavor you’re looking for, as well as (some) of the same vitamins and nutrients. But if you’re really big on bringing fruit into the parks, you can use the Whiskware Disney Stackable Snack Containers.

These are not only a great way to portion out your fruit for yourself or your kids, but you can make sure you don’t squish them and make a mess.
Anything That Makes A Mess
Complicated snacks are not the name of the game in Disney World. If you have to open 6 different things and throw away tons of trash to eat one snack, you may find yourself going hungry to avoid the hassle of eating it.

Instead, stick with things that don’t require lots of assembly — you won’t be able to find a microwave just hanging around in the parks to heat up your ramen in — and have minimal trash. Since it’s likely you’ll be eating your snack on the go or in line where you may not have a trashcan right near by, we suggest choosing simple snacks that are already in a ziplock bag, or only have one wrapper to undo.
Anything Refrigerated
Oh, did we mention refrigeration a second ago? Yeah, it’s also super important that you do not, under any circumstances, bring anything that needs to be kept cold. While this means things like plain milk, it also means things like cheese and lunch meat.

Another one of our team members shared with us her woes in Disney World after she forgot to keep a dulce de leche cookie in the fridge and instead kept it on the counter in her hotel room and…yeah, things didn’t go well. Now imagine that but it’s been inside your bag…in the heat…for hours. Instead, if you want to get a burst of protein, pack some things like nuts, trail mix, protein bars, and beef jerky.

Please don’t give up on fruit as a healthy snack! I have had great success putting an apple or an orange in my Disney backpack. And there’s always dried fruit, too.
