Listen, while we love Disney World rides, we wouldn’t use “reliable” as the first word to describe them.

Sometimes these rides close for maintenance (sometimes for a day, other times for months twice in a year, but we’re not judging), because of bad weather outside, or because a Code V needs to be cleaned up. But there’s one ride in Disney World we can always count on.
Throughout (almost) the entire month of February, Avatar Flight of Passage only broke down ONCE. One time! This is impressive for any ride, but especially impressive when you realize just HOW popular this ride is, and how many people get on it a day!

While yes, the ride is primarily made up of screens and a stationary “ride vehicle,” there’s still plenty that can go wrong with it. The screen could glitch, ride vehicles could malfunction and cause guests to miss out on the whole experience, etc. So we applaud Flight of Passage for this tremendous feat.

But what does Flight of Passage really have to celebrate? The other rides in Disney World just closed a few times, right? WRONG. Let’s just take a quick look at HOW OFTEN other rides closed.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Everest closed 29 times in 20 days
- TriceraTop Spin closed 16 times in 12 days

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway closed 29 times in 17 days (this is especially wild, because this is a newer ride than Flight of Passage and closed a LOT more. However, this is a trackless dark ride, so the level of technology is different!)
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy closed 26 times in 13 times

EPCOT
- Remy’s closed 37 times in 24 days (same thing as Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway — this ride is much newer than Flight of Passage, but because of that trackless ride system PLUS all the screens? It goes down a lot.)
- Test Track closed 31 times in 18 days

Magic Kingdom
- Mad Tea Party closed 41 times in 20 days (HUH?!)
- Barnstormer closed 34 times in 21 days

As you can see, only closing once and being such a technologically advanced ride that’s already coming up on 7 years old is pretty impressive. So if you’re looking for a ride you can count on while you wait in its 2-hour queue, this is the ride for you!
