The Most Uncomfortable Ride According to 85% of Disney World Fans

There are a lot of things at Disney World that we could consider rough on our bodies. The heat, the exhaustion, rides breaking down, the weather, and even finding the closest (and nicest) bathroom to use are just the first things that top our list.

But sometimes it goes a bit deeper than that. When you really stop to consider all the things that can make you uncomfortable, there’s one other category where people can become very divided in their opinions!

Not all rides are created the same, and with that comes their level of comfort. It can be one of the most discouraging things to wait hours in line only to sit down in one of the most uncomfortable seats you’ve ever felt before and try to enjoy your ride.

Time Vehicles

While we’ve all got our levels of comfort that we’re able to tolerate, some of the Disney World rides stick out more than others. We recently asked our readers which Disney World rides they think have the most uncomfortable seats. Let’s take a look at which ones you told us stood out most to you!

What makes your list?

In second place was Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. This mild-thrill rollercoaster seems to have something for everyone. It’s a super cute theme, set in Fantasyland, and follows the storyline of Snow White’s Seven Dwarfs working in their mine “where a million diamonds shine.”

But as cute as this ride is, several of you have chimed in to tell us just how uncomfortable the seats are. Chelsea M. said, “… my knees hurt just thinking about it.” It’s true — the seats are made to look like you’re sitting in a wooden log while you blast out of the mountain mine like a barrel. The knee pads to the lap restraint seem to be the primary complaint of uncomfy rides due to taller folks having a more snug fit.

But reigning supreme for the most uncomfortable ride at Disney World was Space Mountain by a long shot.

Space Mountain

This ride took in the majority of the votes (and seemed to always be mentioned when there was more than one ride to complain about). LaurenMG had this to say about the ride vehicles, “It’s a test of endurance getting in and out, and my spine just about cries throughout the ride. No problem with any others, I think WDW just need to update SM carriages.”

Rachel V. also noted that it was rough on your back and head, “I don’t even go on it anymore because I don’t need the lower back pain or the headache.” Tom L. said that getting in wasn’t the worst, but getting out of the Space Mountain ride vehicle was what bothered him most saying, “… trying to crawl out of the seats when ride is over is torture.”

Shooting through space

Several who commented also went on to note that the ride seats (or rather the experience that comes with them) were enough to keep them from riding the ride and expressed interest in trying the ride again if the ride vehicles were switched out in favor of another setup, (looking at you Space Mountain in Disneyland!).

  1. Last year, I rode Space Mountain for the first time. As great as it was, it was a rough ride. This year, I went back to Disney World. I skipped SM because I didn’t want to be thrown around again.
I’d much rather ride The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train again.

  2. I have to agree with the Mine Train. It’s worse for people of size, both in terms of height and weight. I rode it once and never will again- my right knee was in such agony when I disembarked that I limped for the full day afterwards, and needed to keep Tylenol on me for the rest of the trip! Ouch!

  3. Rocking rollercoaster Banged my head back and forth so much, my glasses left red marks on my temples! Definitely not riding that one again!
