In the past, we’ve taken a look at just how Walt tricked Florida into becoming Disney World, why Kansas City is an essential part of Disney history, and other unique ties to Walt’s history. But now we’ve got a little tidbit to share with you about Walt that might blow your mind!

Walt Disney sadly passed away before Walt Disney World was completed, but Disney experts know well that Walt was present for the opening of Disneyland, and even had an apartment there he would stay in. Some Disney fans might really focus on that as being a unique part of Disneyland — the fact that you can walk where Walt walked, and sort of feel his presence linger in the park.

But there’s one Walt Disney secret you might have NEVER heard before. Imagineer Bob Gurr shared these details via video on his Instagram page. For those not familiar with him, Gurr is an attractions guru. During the early years at Disneyland, if it moved on wheels there was a high likelihood that Gurr designed it. From Disneyland’s Autopia cars to the Main Street vehicles, the monorail, the parking lot trams, and more, Gurr’s work has made him a true Disney legend.

So just what detail did he share about Walt? Well, he said that Walt liked to get up in the morning and squeeze the orange juice at Carnation Cafe and take it back to his wife, Lillian, in their Disneyland apartment. Okay, talk about couple (and Disney) GOALS.

Gurr also shared that Walt would stand in the window when the gates to Disneyland opened and he would watch the first people coming in because it was “his” park. What a special moment it might have been if you had looked up at that time and spotted Walt in the window.
