One of the biggest projects happening in Disney World right now is the major addition under construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Disney is in the process of building a new Disney Vacation Club tower, complete with more hotel rooms, new dining options, and new recreation offerings. And there is some construction happening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa too. We’re excited to check it all out once it’s finished, but in the meantime, there are some issues you may encounter when navigating the resorts!
For a while now, some ongoing hotel construction has blocked off the path between the Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which are right next door to each other.
There was another walkway connecting the hotels that is currently blocked by some construction. In the fall of 2022, a temporary walkway was made available and now part of that temporary walkway has changed.
Previously, the temporary walkway was a little convoluted, having guests cross the street twice in the process of walking between the hotels. But now, it has thankfully been updated!
Instead of crossing the road, you can now walk straight between the two hotels, directly behind one of the construction sites. It essentially connects the parking lot of the Grand Floridian to the Aotearoa building at the Polynesian.
This updated path is significantly safer for pedestrians traveling between the hotels, and it shortens the distance that you have to walk. Check it out next time you’re there!
