These Shows Should Come BACK to Disney World

Disney World shows are ICONIC, and that includes many that are no longer with us.

Happily Ever After

Many of us are still mourning the Happily Ever After fireworks show that was replaced last year with Disney Enchantment. Some of us wish for the days of Wishes. Others would love to see the return of IllumiNations. We asked YOU which retired shows you would like to return, and here’s what you told us!

Tarzan Rocks

Many of you would like to see the return of the Tarzan Rocks show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Tarzan Rocks was a 30-minute high-energy show based on Disney’s animated feature Tarzan. The show featured singers, dancers, musicians, gymnasts, in-line skaters, and aerialists.

Maribeth said, “Tarzan. I loved that show and the host (who at least I get to see every year at the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade).”

Many of you agreed!

Hunchback of Notre Dame

Some of you pine for the days of the Hunchback of Notre Dame which was at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (although then, it was Disney-MGM Studios). The show took guests back to 15th-century France in a musical adventure that followed the story of Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame film.

Michelle commented, “Hunchback was the best!! Absolute best!!”

Darcey agreed, “Hunchback of Notre Dame! By far, the best show in any park!”

SpectroMagic!

Some of you mentioned the SpectroMagic! parade at Magic Kingdom. The parade combined lights, fiber-optics, and music to light up the night with our favorite Disney characters.

Chris said, “If we’re counting parades then Spectromagic hands down.” Many of you agreed!

Tapestry of Nations

Many of you miss the Tapestry of Nations parade at EPCOT. This parade featured elaborate larger-than-life puppets representing the countries in World Showcase.

Ilene said, “Tapestry of Nations. It was such an aspirational show.”

Ken agreed, “Specifically Tapestry of Nations so you get the Sage of Time leading and closing the parade!!”

Wishes

When it comes to fireworks, we saw a lot of mentions for Wishes at Magic Kingdom. The show was narrated by Jiminy Cricket and was all about making wishes come true, something that happens every day at Disney World!

Wishes

Stacey said, “Would love wishes and tapestry of nations.”

Maddie wants Wishes to return, too, but with updates: “Wishes but updated with new characters. Ten plus years is too long to go without an update.”

Osborne Family Lights

The one show we saw mentioned MOST OFTEN, though, is the Osborne Family Lights. The Osborne Family donated the lights to Disney after complaints in the neighborhood surfaced. So every year during the holiday season, the lights lit up part of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Jennifer answered, “Osborne lights the best part of a Disney Christmas.”

Cindy agreed, “Osborne Lights it was amazing.”

Michael said, “If just one, have to be the Osborne Lights show. 😎 °o°”

Others

We also got mentions of some other shows that are long since gone, including Food Rocks at EPCOT, the Main Street Electrical Parade at Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade at Animal Kingdom, and Lights, Motor, Action! at Hollywood Studios.

Lights, Motors, Action!

The one thing about Disney World, though, is that it’s constantly changing, so all we have of many of these shows are the happy memories they gave us. We do look forward to some NEW shows next year, though, including a new nighttime show at EPCOT and a show featuring Happily Ever After in some way at Magic Kingdom.

  1. Another great one was the old bird show in AK! It was so funny with the guide who was afraid of the birds. Everyone who went seemed to enjoy it.
