Hurricane Ian is already impacting Florida.

In preparation for the storm, several theme parks announced closures including Legoland Florida, Universal Orlando, and Disney World. Disney released a list of several cancelations and closures and a clue on the Disney World website makes it look like the parks may not reopen on time.

When looking at Park Pass Reservation availability for Disney World, we noticed that Friday, September 30th had no reservations available. This was the availability on Tuesday of this week…

…and this is what the availability calendar looks like now.

The Annual Passholder calendar also shows no parks available for this Friday. However, all ticket types had full availability for Saturday, October 1st.

So what does this mean? Well, for now it is just a clue that the parks may not open on Friday. Disney has NOT officially announced if the parks will be closed on Friday, but we do know the parks are closed on September 28th and 29th. It’s also possible that the parks filled up due to rescheduling from the closures on the days before.

If your park tickets are affected by the closures, be sure to check out Disney World’s cancelation and refund policies.

  1. It could be that Disney will remained closed on September 30, or it could be that those who had their reservations cancelled on the 28th and 29th have already rebooked and the parks are going to be really crowded on the 30th (and likely into the weekend).

  2. Our Animal Kingdom Wed and Thursday Hollywood Studios tickets and reservations are no good now due to Disney closures. Now, if they reopen on Friday, we cannot book our admission tickets or park reservations for at least one day Friday, due to “not available.”. So our original flight home was changed to Saturday. First real snag of our glorious trip.
