Have you been keeping up with all the Disney news this week?
There’s certainly a lot going on right now: the Disney Wish (Disney’s newest cruise ship) has set sail for a media preview, we got to check out the new DVC rooms at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and the Hocus Pocus 2 trailer dropped! But if you happened to miss the biggest stories, don’t worry — we’ve got you covered.
We’ve been getting you all kinds of new details about the Disney Wish this week, and if you’ve been following along live, you’re completely up to date! We got to witness the ship’s christening and made sure you got a full tour of a stateroom as well as a first look at the luxurious tower suite.
EPCOT Food and Wine Menus Released
It’s almost time for the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, which begins on July 14th and runs through November 19th. There will be over 25 food booths this year, including a new booth, The Fry Basket. Yes, it’s a booth dedicated completely to French fries! You can check out all the menus here.
But that’s not all because Flavors of Florida is returning to Disney Springs this year on July 5th and running through August 14th. There will be over 44 limited-edition menu items at restaurants throughout the Springs!
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Reopening Date
Disney previously announced that Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique would be reopening soon, but now we know when. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will reopen in both Disney World AND Disneyland on August 25th.
Soon, little princesses and princes will be able to get their makeovers again.
Brightline Train Station in Disney Springs Canceled
In 2020, Brightline announced that a high-speed train station would be added to Disney Springs, connecting Disney World to Orlando International Airport. However, we learned this week that Disney is no longer involved in the project as the train will not have a stop in Disney Springs.
The decision comes after the route was redrawn to include a train station on International Drive and not at Disney Springs, as the original plan had shown. Brightline will continue construction on the line, including a stop near (but not inside) Disney Springs.
Bob Chapek’s Contract Is Extended
The Disney Board of Directors has extended Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s contract for another three years. Chapek’s contract was initially set to expire in 2023, so now he will act as the company’s CEO until 2026.
Susan Arnold, chairman of the board, said “Disney was dealt a tough hand by the pandemic, yet with Bob at the helm, our businesses — from parks to streaming — not only weathered the storm, but emerged in a position of strength.”
