Brightline Train Station in Disney Springs Canceled
In 2020, Brightline announced that a high-speed train station would be added to Disney Springs, connecting Disney World to Orlando International Airport. However, we learned this week that Disney is no longer involved in the project as the train will not have a stop in Disney Springs.
The decision comes after the route was redrawn to include a train station on International Drive and not at Disney Springs, as the original plan had shown. Brightline will continue construction on the line, including a stop near (but not inside) Disney Springs.

Bob Chapek’s Contract Is Extended
The Disney Board of Directors has extended Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s contract for another three years. Chapek’s contract was initially set to expire in 2023, so now he will act as the company’s CEO until 2026.
Susan Arnold, chairman of the board, said “Disney was dealt a tough hand by the pandemic, yet with Bob at the helm, our businesses — from parks to streaming — not only weathered the storm, but emerged in a position of strength.”

Disney must be as mad as the mad hatter extended Chapek’s contract
I’m disappointed that Disney won’t be on the Brightline track. The choice to step away from the project, along with the other short-sighted choices Chapeck has made, makes me wonder if the long term plan is to sell off all or part of WDW.
