Disney’s Animal Kingdom just might be one of Disney World’s most underrated parks.

The park itself is beautiful (plus there’s LOTS of shade — a must in the Florida summers), you can see a variety of animal wildlife, you can even PET some animals, and you can visit a gorgeous fictional planet without ever leaving Earth. And between it all, guests can experience a show that is almost guaranteed to make you smile — Disney KiteTails. But, how and when you watch it has just CHANGED!
When KiteTails first opened at Animal Kingdom for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, guests gathered around a seating area at the Discovery River Theater to watch kites of Disney characters from The Lion King and Jungle Book soar above them. Now, though, guests will see KiteTails in a completely different way.

We previously reported that the performances would soon change so that guests can view it from anywhere around the Discover River Lagoon with more frequent showtimes and shorter performances. And, we caught a glimpse of what that looks like today in the park!

You will no longer be able to find showtimes for Disney Kitetails listed in the My Disney Experience App meaning that you’ll have to be passing by at just the right time to catch it!

The 10-minute performance used to take place at designated times, but now it will take place in the same location at unannounced times between 9:10AM and 3:10PM.
So, instead of planning your day around being in the theater at a specific time, you might want to try to catch it during a time that you’re taking a break from the park day hustle — grab a snack and take a break somewhere along the Discovery River Lagoon so that you increase your chances of seeing it!

We were able to catch a show around 10:40AM one morning and, instead of a 10-minute show, the kites only soared above the water for about 5-minutes. It’s also important to note that there were no longer any performers in the theater, so you won’t be missing out on any aspects of the show if you’re viewing it from anywhere around the river.
How do we feel about this version of Hakuna Matata?🎶🦁🤔
