A Fan-Favorite Ride is REALLY Struggling This Week in Disney World

The week between Christmas and New Year’s tends to be one of the busiest times of year to visit Disney World and this year isn’t any different!

Over the past few days, the parks have been filled with guests and one park has been struggling a bit more than the others when it comes to crowds — Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Yesterday, a variety of technical issues with rides led to VERY long lines at several popular attractions and it doesn’t look like the situation will be much better today.

When the parks are busy, it is more important than ever that attractions function properly so that Disney can get the maximum number of people on the ride throughout the day. But, when something malfunctions and a ride needs to close, it can lead to complications throughout the rest of the day.

For example, yesterday, the Lightning Lane wait time was up to 1 hour for Rise of the Resistance, causing the standby wait to reach a whopping 4-hours (!!).

And, while it seems that many of the issues that guests faced at Disney’s Hollywood Studios yesterday have been resolved, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has continued to have issues today, leading it to be closed once again this morning.

With the major attraction down again, Disney Cast Members have turned to some other forms of entertainment for guests instead. When we stopped by, they were giving out trivia cards, free stickers, and had even brought out hula hoops to keep people in the area busy while the ride is fixed.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is currently down

The last update that we heard from Cast Members was that they had “called in reinforcements” to get the attraction back up, but it has yet to resume operations.

So, if you’re heading into Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, be sure to check the status of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster on the My Disney Experience app before making your way over to ride (and prepare for a longer wait when it reopens).
