As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change and develop, AllEars will be bringing you the latest relevant news that could affect a theme park visit.

As we approach the holidays, there has been a growing concern in the United States regarding the emerging Omicron COVID-19 variant. And, many states and countries have responded by implementing additional travel restrictions, face mask requirements, and more.

COVID-19 Sign at Disney World

In the past month, Orange County, Florida has seen an increase in infections from the new strain (reporting that it was the dominant variant in wastewater recently) and the White House has named the county a “rapid riser.” And, now the CDC has upgraded the COVID-19 community transmission risk once again.

As of this writing, the CDC is now reporting that Orange County falls into the “High” category of COVID-19 community transmission. The county had been upgraded to “substantial” three weeks ago at the beginning of December.

This data is calculated based on new cases per 100,000 persons in the past 7 days. The recommendation remains that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wears a mask in public, indoor settings.

Disney World is partially located in Orange County, Florida, and has had a policy requiring that all guests (regardless of vaccination status) wear an approved face mask at all indoor locations and select transportation vehicles for some time now. So, this policy will likely stay in place while as community transmission risk remains high.
