PHOTOS: You Can Get a DOLE WHIP CUPCAKE in Disney World!

We’re at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort celebrating Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Lobby

The resort opened with the Magic Kingdom 50 years ago and it recently received some MAJOR updates with brand new Moana-themed rooms and an updated Monorail station. And, while there’s a lot to explore inside (like a new 50th-anniversary merchandise display), we’re headed inside to check out the new treats that just arrived for the celebration!

We stopped by one of the Polynesian’s Quick Service spots, Capt. Cook’s for their version of the 50th Celebration Cupcake — which just happens to be Dole Whip-inspired! It is a vanilla cupcake with a Dole Whip pineapple center, tropical fruit salsa, and a pineapple macaron. YUM.

It costs $5.99 and is basically a pineapple lover’s dream. We thought that the custard inside was the best part of the cupcake and the pineapple-shaped macaron on top was an extra surprise.

But, this cupcake isn’t the only new sweet treat that has arrived at the resort! Upstairs at Kona Island there are THREE new options for the 50th anniversary. First up is the Aloha Cinnamon Cupcake which is made with apple filling, cream cheese icing, tropical fruit salsa, and a Mickey macaron!

It is available for $5.99 and just might take the cake (get it?) for being the most over-the-top cupcake at the Polynesian. And, while cinnamon may be in the name, we got major apple pie flavors from this one.

Next up is the Magic Chocolate Dome which costs $5.99 as well. This treat is a white and dark chocolate mousse dome with a graham cracker crust and blue Mickey spirals.

Now, this ended up being our favorite out of the whole bunch, so if you’re a fan of salty and sweet chocolate treats, then you might want to run to Kona Island (or you can find it at Kona Cafe too)!

Last but not least at this location, we’re trying the Meringue Lemon Tart with toasted meringue and fresh berries!

Meringue Lemon Tart

This one is a bit cheaper than the others, costing $5.49, but that’s really the only big thing that it has going for it. While we really enjoyed the meringue and cherry flavors, the lemon custard was a bit too overpowering and mushy for our liking.

If you want to give it a try you can find it at both Kona Island and Kona Cafe.

Well, the food game at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is strong (as usual), so be sure to check out this treat (and MORE) when you visit for Disney World’s 50th anniversary! We’ll keep giving you live updates, so stay tuned!
