It’s finally here…Halloween season has kicked off at Walt Disney World!

We’re celebrating at the After Hours BOO Bash event on opening night, and we’ve been sharing all the details that you need to know. But now, we’re ready to compile them all in one place and share our ultimate guide to this year’s Halloween event!
Tickets & Planning
The After Hours BOO Bash is an evening event that runs from either 9PM-12AM or 9:30PM-12:30AM on select nights in August, September, and October. You’ll need an extra ticket to attend, and many dates are already sold out due to the low capacity of the event.

Your event ticket gets you into Magic Kingdom at 7PM and allows you to stay for the duration of the event. Last night, tickets were available for purchase at the gate for BOO Bash, despite still showing as sold out online. We don’t know if this will occur for every BOO Bash event, but it might be worth a try if you want to attend on a sold out night.

There is plenty to do and experience (more on that in a minute!) and guests are welcome to wear Halloween costumes during their visit!

But the guests aren’t the only ones decked out, because Magic Kingdom is decorated from top to bottom in pumpkins, garlands, and fall leaves.

The decorations do a great job of setting the mood right off the bat…so let’s get started!

Crowds
Because this is an After Hours event, Disney limits the number of tickets sold. Throughout the night, you can expect shorter wait times on rides and lower crowds than you would normally see at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Crowd levels stayed fairly low throughout the night!

Ride wait times were also pretty low! The longest wait at one point was the Astro Orbiter at 60 minutes around 10 PM, but the other ride wait times generally hovered around 5 to 35 minutes for most of the event.

The longest wait for Peter Pan was 35 minutes, so you know crowds were on the lower side!
Dining
You’ll be able to find unique treats around the park, only available to BOO Bash attendees. We tried the Apple Ginger Dale Frozen Drink from Golden Oak Outpost for $5.99, and we thought it was refreshing and not too sweet. It’s made with frozen apple cider, ginger ale, whipped cream, and topped with Twix.

Next, we tried the Prince John Sucker Frozen Drink for $5.99 from Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies in Tomorrowland. The drink is a tart green apple lemonade slush topped with a ring pop.

As for food, there is the Maleficent Churro for $7 at the snack cart on Main Street, U.S.A. It’s a churro covered in chocolate cookie crumbles drizzled with purple icing and topped with green and purple sprinkles!

We also picked up the Foolish Mortal Funnel Cake, which is funnel cake topped with Oreo crumbles, purple vanilla ice cream, green drizzle icing, and M&Ms. You can buy it at Sleepy Hollow for $7.99. It sure looked great, but it wasn’t a standout dessert.

The Mocha Chocolate Chip Frozen Drink at the Golden Oak Outpost wasn’t available, so we were’t able to try it. It’s described as frozen mocha topped with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and a sugar acorn.
Entertainment
Throughout the night, there are some great entertainment options! The character cavalcades provide a fun way to spot your favorite Disney pals in their Halloween best. First, we saw Mickey and his friends in their spooky costumes during Mickey’s Happy Halloween Cavalcade.

In this cavalcade, you can see Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Pluto!

There’s also the Disney Villain Halloween Cavalcade. It’s rare to see some of these villains in the parks, so this was a special treat!

We also saw Bowler Hat Guy, Cruella, and the Evil Queen.

And finally, we were greeted by characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas in Jack’s Nightmare Cavalcade!

Jack, Sally, and Oogie Boogie were all here to say hello while catchy tunes from the movie soundtrack played in the background.

We also got a special treat when the Mistress of Evil blazed her way through during Maleficent’s Fiery Prowl! She did not breathe actual flames.

Besides the cavalcades, we were also treated to some musical entertainment from the Dapper…ahem, excuse us…the Cadaver Dans! They got their creepy makeover and they’re ready to delight guests with Halloween numbers.

They’ll be hanging out in Frontierland during the event and will have various showtimes over the course of the night.

If you want to dance, you can head on over to Tomorrowland for the DJ Dance Party that goes on all night! The Dance Party also featured spooky projections on the dance floor.

And we LOVED Madame Carlotta telling scary stories on the Haunted Mansion lawn!

Extra Offerings
Throughout the night, you’ll be able to stop at various locations to pick up complimentary snacks and candy!

As far as the snacks go, your options include select beverages, popcorn, and ice cream novelties. You can get these at snack carts throughout the park.

For trick-or-treating, you’ll be able to pick up candy at Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, Splash Mountain, Ariel’s Grotto, Pinocchio Village Haus, Pete’s Silly Sideshow, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor!

If you are looking for allergy-friendly treats, you can also visit the Allergy-Friendly Center in Liberty Square for safe treats for people with allergies!

Well, there you have it — your full and complete guide to the Disney After Hours BOO Bash! If you’re visiting this year, we hope you have an amazing time! Stay tuned to AllEars for all the Halloween news and coverage until then.
