Why People Keep Losing Their Minds Over Disney World Noodles

If you’ve been surfing the interwebs lately, it’s possible that you stumbled upon some people in some group somewhere having a very intense discussion about one very specific thing in Disney World…noodles.

Noodles? YES, NOODLES! You might be thinking,”hang on, why are the people out there literally LOSING their minds over some noodles?!” Well, sit down, pull up a chair, grab a snack, and we’ll tell you all about a special place in Disney World called ‘Ohana.

Disney’s hotels are home to some seriously fantastic restaurants. Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort you’ll find quite a few favorite spots and dishes. In fact, we’ve even shared a whole post about 10 snacks you’ll regret not getting at the Poly.

Many fans the world over will tell you that one of the very BEST spots to eat in the Polynesian, especially for dinner, is ‘Ohana.

At dinner, ‘Ohana typically operates in the same way that a Brazilian steakhouse does. You get to sit down and some appetizers are brought to your table. Then, throughout your dinner, servers typically come by with chicken, steak, and shrimp cooked on skewers. If you want any of the meat, you let them know and they’ll serve you some. The servers will then continue to walk around with the meat throughout the night.

Note: During ‘Ohana’s initial reopening, things will operate differently. The menu has changed slightly and it will now feature dishes served family-style.

While the all-you-can-eat meat from ‘Ohana’s traditional menu might have been the star for some, for others it’s one appetizer in particular that had the key to their hearts (or stomachs, or both). You guessed it…the noodles! We can pretty firmly say that a LOT of people out there are truly obsessed with these noodles.

Why? Well, these are no ordinary noodles. No way — these are THE ‘Ohana Noodles. They’re perfectly cooked, deliciously sticky, an incredible mixture of savory with a touch of sweetness, and are the type of thing you could eat a whole bowl of without even realizing it.

Seriously, people devour these things. They ordered them through room service (when they were available). They got them at Tambu Lounge (when they were available). They even make them at home — we’ve got a recipe for the stir fry noodles when they had a peanut sauce and a version for the ones with a pineapple teriyaki glaze. Seriously, this is a cult classic, a must-get for many fans.

So, the noodles are a BIG deal. But why are people losing their minds over them right now? Well, when Disney first announced that ‘Ohana would be reopening this July, it shared a look at the reopening menu. As noted above, this is a slightly modified menu that features family-style service. And guess what was missing from that menu…the noodles!!!!!

When we say the internet lost its collective mind, we truly mean it. There was an UPROAR. And it wasn’t the first time noodles fans got upset. Back in 2019, some guests were treated to fried rice at ‘Ohana instead of the noodles, and let’s just say noodles fans were NOT pleased.

Eventually, the noodles did make a re-appearance. But, when they disappeared from the reopening menu, the noodles fans once again emerged to start the noodle resistance effort.

Seriously, Lilo and Stitch taught us that ‘ohana means nobody gets left behind or forgotten, so WHY in the world do the ‘Ohana noodles keep getting left behind?! It is truly one of the greatest mysteries the world has ever known.

So, what’s the status on the ‘Ohana noodles now? Well, it seems Disney may have caught wind of this small noodle uprising and swiftly took action.

The ‘Ohana noodles have officially been added BACK to the menu and Disney even released a Tik Tok video sharing that the noodles are in fact coming back. WHEW!

For some fans, the ‘Ohana noodles are the equivalent of Dole Whips or Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars — a classic that should not be messed with. And those fans will once again get to enjoy their noodles at ‘Ohana when it reopens on July 9th!

Could the noodles change again in the future? Could Disney replace them with a different dish? It’s certainly possible as menu changes are something that constantly happen. But, we have a feeling Disney knows the fans they’d be going up against so they’d have to be willing to take on that challenge. In the meantime, we’ll enjoy the ‘Ohana noodles for as long as we can and eat as many as our stomachs can handle 😂 💗
