Today is the official opening day of VelociCoaster at Universal’s Island’s of Adventure!
We’ve already checked out the whole ride during the soft opening, from the raptors in the queue to the insane 155 foot hill. But, we still came out to Jurassic Park on opening day to see how long the wait is and what festivities were going on for the event. And boy, are we glad we did, because we got to see some celebrities filming near the ride!
That’s right, the Today Show was filming this morning in Islands of Adventure for the opening of VelociCoaster!
We were made aware that we were walking onto a hot set, which would cause delays in VelociCoaster operations until 10AM, when they were done filming.
But we could cross the area where they were filming during commercial breaks.
We spotted some famous talent in front of the coaster! We saw NBC News’ Kerry Sanders way back there in the bright blue shirt.
Then we caught a glimpse of Today Show anchor Dylan Dreyer reapplying some makeup between filming.
And we even saw the hilarious SNL cast member, Kenan Thompson!
Kenan is part of the “Let Yourself Woah” campaign for Universal Parks and Resorts, which reminds visitors to live in the moment, something you can definitely do while riding VelociCoaster.
