Last month, we shared the exciting news that a baby zebra was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
The baby, which was born on the Kilimanjaro Safaris (some guests were able to witness the birth!), officially has a name!
The keepers at Animal Kingdom chose the name “Dash” for this spunky foal. In addition to his “dashing” personality, the name was also chosen for his dash stripe on his left shoulder, which is mom, Heidi, also has!
We also got some new adorable baby pictures of the foal as he “dashes” around the savanna!
Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment, shared that Dash was born as part of the Species Survival Plan, which is in association with Disney as well as the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The program assures responsible breeding practices in order to create a healthy and genetically diverse population of animals, specifically endangered species, for years to come.
Keep an eye out for baby Dash on your next trip on Kilimanjaro Safaris!
