Why Disney’s Recent Job Postings Are Such a Big Deal

When Disney faced the initial park closures last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cast Members were initially furloughed and 28,000 Cast Members were laid off domestically roughly six months later.

Cast Members Welcoming Everyone Back!

And, while many of the furloughed Cast Members have returned to work, some are still awaiting their call back to work in Disney World. But, just a few days ago we noticed that Disney World was hiring again for select positions — so, what could that mean for the parks?

Well, let’s first cover which Cast Members have been called back to work!

Skyliner Cast Member

When the Disney World Parks reopened last year, all full-time attractions Cast Members,  many custodial Cast Members, and other full-time and part-time Cast Members around the property were initially called back. And, shortly after, more Disney Resort hotel Cast Members were called back and the trend has continued as more has reopened at Disney World.

Now, what about all those new open positions at Disney World?

Disney is hiring!

Well, Disney currently has job postings on their website for Attractions, Custodial, Merchandise, and Quick Service Food and Beverage Cast Members. With many Cast Members in these positions already called back to work, Disney is likely looking to grow their staff, which could mean that they’re starting to see higher demand from vacationers once again.

And, there are a few other things that point to there being a growing demand!

Casey’s Corner

Recently, we’ve been seeing Disney announce reopening dates for more Disney World restaurants, hotels, and shops. And, if Disney Resort hotels are any indication of the demand for the parks, after this summer, we will only be waiting on four Disney resorts to reopen —  Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts and two remaining All-Star Resorts.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort now has a reopening date!

So, with the list of closed Disney World spots slowly dwindling down, the new Cast Member postings may indicate that Disney is working to reopen more locations. And, Disney may be doing this thanks to more people visiting the parks and resort area, which would make sense due to the difficulty that many park-goers are having with securing Disney Park Pass Reservations even months in advance.

We’ve noticed more crowds in the parks

Earlier this year, analysts were predicting that the parks would see an increase in demand and recover from their losses by the end of the fiscal year 2022, and all signs seem to be pointing in that direction. Disney has yet to share any information on the number of people who are visiting the parks, but we will continue to keep an eye out for updates! Stay tuned for more Disney news and updates!

  1. We went last Dec. We are dvc/pass holders. Not fast passes & covid restrictions meant long lines for not just rides but dining and shopping. It allowed us to just take it easy and enjoy the theming but, we were on what was left of our annual pass. We wouldn’t pay for that experience again. My brother went in Feb and said the same. Not worth going back until things are closer to normal. Especially 1st timers should wait until 2022 or you will get frustrated. Definitely NOT magical right now.
