While the larger Orlando theme parks such as Disney World and Universal Orlando have either reopened, or will soon be reopening, their dining and shopping centers, the theme parks themselves remain closed with no details on a reopening date.

However, smaller Orlando attractions, such as Fun Spot and Gatorland, have begun outlining their reopening plans. In today’s Orange County Task Force in Orlando, representatives from some of these smaller parks detailed their plans for reopening.
Last week, we reported that Fun Spot America and Gatorland had submitted their plans for reopening to Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, detailing plans for maintaining the necessary health and safety protocols needed to safely reopen to guests.

In today’s Orange County Task Force meeting, representatives from both sites (as well as fellow Orlando attraction ICON Park) outlined the guidelines they had sent to Mayor Demings while also requesting specific dates for their reopening.

While ICON Park did not submit a date yet for approval, Fun Spot has asked to reopen on Friday, May 22nd, with Gatorland requesting the following day, Saturday, May 23rd.

While submitting these dates, these smaller parks have all requested a Phase Two reopening according to Florida’s guidelines. At this time, Florida has begun their “full Phase One reopening”, which has expanded on the capacity levels for restaurants and retail stores. Currently, there has been no date or set of guidelines released for Phase Two of the state’s reopening.
We will continue to bring updates on the Orlando theme parks, as well as the reopening of smaller attractions in the area.
