Magic Kingdom Construction Update: Walls, Steel Beams, and a Cornucopia Walk Into a Park…

Welcome to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, where construction in Tomorrowland is both old and new and where a new sign in Liberty Square has a vintage touch.

Welcome to Magic Kingdom

Put on your hard hat and your steel-toed boots; it’s time to check out Magic Kingdom construction.

Tomorrowland Terrace

Tomorrowland Terrace serves a couple of purposes: it’s a seasonally-open quick service restaurant and it’s the location of the Happily Ever After Dessert Parties.

But right now, its biggest distinction is some construction walls.

There’s been no official word about what’s happening behind the walls, so we’ll update if it turns out to be something exciting.

In the meantime, we’ll keep an eye on things. Gray things. Construction wall things. You’re welcome!

TRON Lightcycle Run Construction

Meanwhile, deeper into Tomorrowland, TRON Lightcycle Run is coming along. The view from Fantasyland (Goofy’s Barnstormer queue, specifically) is particularly illuminating.

A massive ride building is being built up over portions of the ride track.

Though the coaster isn’t set to open until 2021 (just in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary), the excitement over TRON continues to build. Recently Disney dropped a ride vehicle in Tomorrowland (in the shadow of the crane used for the coaster’s construction), for guests to climb aboard.

Liberty Square Market Sign

And in sign news (that’s… not a thing), there’s a new, thematically-appropriate sign adjacent to the Liberty Square Market eating area. This area recently opened after a short renovation, so the sign is likely just the cherry on top of the seating area sundae.

And that is it for our cornucopia of construction news. We’ll bring you more construction from the parks — including Epcot — this week, so come on back!
