We’re just over a month away from July 4th, one of the biggest days of the summer in Disney World, and, if we’re being honest, pretty much everywhere in the U.S.

We’ve been in the parks for the holiday for years now, and you can bet we’ll be there again this time around! If you’re also hoping to be in the parks to celebrate, we’ve got a warning we need to pass on. Park passes appear to be selling out QUICK, and are already gone for some parks, so you’ll need to act fast.
Yes, park passes are still required in Disney World who don’t have date-based tickets, and have been since the parks reopened after the COVID-19 closures in 2020. This means that, unless you’ve bought tickets for specific dates in the park, you’ll need to let Disney know which park you plan to be in on each day of your vacation. If you wait, you run the risk of park passes selling out during busy seasons, and that’s exactly what’s beginning to happen for July 4th, as well as July 3rd and July 5th.

Currently, park passes are only available for Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are currently sold out, it is possible to still enter the park on July 4th. We recommend grabbing a park pass reservation for either DHS or DAK, then you’ll just need to make sure you tap into that park before park hopping to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. If you’re a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder, you also still need to make a reservation for July 4th, as it’s not a Good To Go day (meaning no reservations are needed). Fortunately, availability for those with Incredi Passes and Sorcerer Passes are still looking good, as all parks are available, but we don’t recommend waiting too much longer to grab yours. However, if you’ve got a Pirate Pass or Pixie Dust Pass, unfortunately you’re blocked out for the holiday, so if you want to enter the park, you’ll need to buy a separate ticket.

A word of warning! If you’re in another park before heading to your desired park for the rest of the day, or specifically that evening, keep in mind that the parks CAN fill up in capacity, and that means that, whether you have a park pass reservation or you’re park hopping from the park you did have a reservation for, you may be kept outside the gates until enough people exit the park. This may especially be true for the evening of July 4th thanks to the special fireworks shows in both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, so if you know you want to be in the park for those, we don’t recommend waiting until right before it starts.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest news as we get closer to the holiday, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars!
