Don’t get caught off guard by an unexpected closure on your next Disney trip!

From scheduled refurbishments to permanent closures, we know how important it is to stay up-to-date on the latest information about closed attractions, shops, and transportation around the Disney parks! Wondering which recent announcements you might have missed? We’ve got you covered!
Here are eight new closures around the Disney parks that were announced in April 2026!
Aquatopia at Tokyo DisneySea
We’re starting off with news that might be a bummer for fans of Tokyo Disney Resort. It was recently announced that the popular Aquatopia attraction in Tokyo DisneySea will permanently close on September 14th, 2026. Aquatopia features a three-person watercraft that travels around the experimental pool using a trackless ride system, twirling off in unpredictable directions.

The Oriental Land Company, which owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort, announced the upcoming closure as it prepares to reimagine the Port Discovery section of the park. If you want to experience Aquatopia before it’s gone for good, be sure to plan a trip to Tokyo ahead of the September 14th closure date later this year!
Boat Dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Temporary transportation changes are coming to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, as it was recently announced that the boat dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be closed for routine maintenance from May 11th through late June 2026.

Guests staying at the Polynesian will not be able to use boat transportation to Magic Kingdom during the closure, so expect a potential spike in Monorail traffic during this time.
Boat Dock at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
On the subject of Magic Kingdom area transportation closures, the docks and boats at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will be closed for refurbishment from April 13th through May 1st, 2026. That means boat transportation will not be offered between Magic Kingdom and the resort during this time.

In place of the boats, Disney will run buses between Wilderness Lodge and Magic Kingdom, so guests can still travel between the two, just with a slightly less cool form of transportation!
Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
For guests who enjoy getting out for a round of golf at Disney World, heads up that Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course will temporarily close for refurbishment from late spring to early fall. Based on available tee times we saw online, it appears that the golf course will be closed as of May 4th.

Disney announced lots of exciting changes coming with the refurbishment, including newly reimagined contouring and elevations, upgraded irrigation systems, and new drainage systems to improve playing conditions! Guests who want to golf during the closure can still choose from three other golf courses on Disney property, all at the hotel Shades of Green near Magic Kingdom.
Kiddie Pool Deck at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Disney also announced a brief closure of the Kiddie Pool Deck at Disney’s Pop Century Resort from April 13th through late April 2026 for routine maintenance.

The closure was only slated for a few weeks, so guests staying at the resort won’t have to worry about it for much longer, since it should be back open by May!
Shore at Disney Springs
Disney Springs has seen several permanent closures this year, including Sprinkles Cupcakes and Francesca’s. And in April, it was announced that the clothing store Shore will also permanently close on April 30th, 2026.

Disney hasn’t announced what will be replacing the space currently filled by Shore, but we’ll be on the lookout for any updates!
Pirates of the Caribbean in Disneyland
The iconic Disneyland attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean, will be closed for refurbishment starting May 4th, 2026. Disney hasn’t yet revealed when the ride will reopen, but we’ll let you know as soon as a timeline is announced, since we know this is a must-do attraction for TONS of people!

Pirates of the Caribbean will be joining several other attractions on the list of lengthy Disneyland closures, so be sure to check which rides will still be down before your next trip!
Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Another temporary closure Disney announced this month was Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The original animated short will be temporarily closed starting April 29th.

So far, Disney has just said the attraction will reopen “later this year,” which means this is another one that we’ll be monitoring for updates on a more specific timeline!
We’re constantly on the lookout for new announcements about upcoming closures at the Disney parks around the world, so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest updates you need to help plan your Disney vacation!
