REVIEW: We Tried 3 NEW Menu Items at This Disney World Hotel Restaurant (And We Think You Should, Too!)

We love it when Disney World restaurants drop new menu items, because it gives us an excuse to go buy more food!

This looks delicious!

We’re always down for a good meal at Disney World — breakfast, lunch, or dinner! We recently went to Disney’s Polynesian Resort to try the Kona Cafe’s all-new food items, and now we’re bringing you our thoughts.

Kona Cafe at the Polynesian released new food items, and of course, we couldn’t resist going to try them out. First things first, Kona Cafe provides complimentary bread service. It’s four fluffy bread rolls served with butter. They said it’s made with pineapple juice, but it was very faint. Some of the rolls had more pineapple flavor than others, so it was a little inconsistent.

The first thing we grabbed was the Dynamite Roll for $26. This was sushi with salmon on top, with rice, seaweed, and vegetables inside. It did have a pretty strong fishy flavor; it was definitely the dominant flavor. The vegetables gave it a good crunch. However, it wasn’t a super special dish overall. If you like sushi, you’d enjoy it, but it’s your typical sushi to us.

Then we tried the Grilled Chicken Kimchi Sandwich for $19. This was our waitress’s favorite item, so we had high expectations going into it. The sandwich comes in two halves. One half had a grilled chicken patty with provolone cheese melted on top, and the other half had arugula and kimchi.

The bun was very soft, but it didn’t feel like the freshest bun. We would’ve preferred it if it were a little bit toasted as well. The sandwich had a subtle kick to it, so just keep that in mind. The spiciness came from the kimchi, but the chicken and arugula balance out that kick.

This is tasty!

The chicken itself was delicious — it was very well-cooked with a juciness to it. It was straight off the grill because you could taste the char. The kimchi added to the texture. We really enjoyed this sandwich!

We would get this again!

Lastly, we got the Mirin-Teriyaki Burger for $25. This was a sweet and savory burger with two smash burger patties coated in their teriyaki sauce. It also had a pineapple ring, provolone cheese, and pork belly. The pineapple gave the burger a tangy sweetness when combined with the sauce.

The burger is delicious but very filling! The bun was fresh and nicely toasted, so we liked this one more. It had a good crunch on the edges with a softer center. The burger was cooked well-done, and it was good. The patty is easy to eat. We 100% would get this again.

This was so delicious!

We find ourselves going to Kona quite a bit since we like a lot of their menu items, but now we know we’ll be there a lot more with these new ones in town. For more food reviews around Disney World, make sure to keep following us at AllEars.
