There’s a really pricey place to get dessert in Disney World, but dang if it’s not good!

Yes, of course, we’re talking about The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers! This dining spot at Disney’s BoardWalk has both a restaurant and a walk-up bakery available, and they have some of the priciest desserts on Disney World property. We recently tried two of them, and now we’re here for a SHOWDOWN.
Blueberry Crumble Pie
A few weeks back, we tried the new Blueberry Crumble Pie at The Cake Bake Shop Bakery. According to the menu, this is “our signature all-butter pie crust, loaded with blueberries, lemon zest, sugar, and topped with our light brown sugar crumble.” And for one slice? It’s a whopping $17.

The pie comes served in a paper box with no plate, and it is MESSY. The blueberry juice was oozing all over the place — thankfully, we were able to grab a plate from BoardWalk Deli nearby.
Despite the mess, this was absolutely delicious! The crumble topping was sugary and moist with a lovely chew to it. There is a plethora of blueberries in the filling, and it’s a really huge slice of pie overall.

The crust held everything together nicely with its buttery soft base. This is a great shareable treat, with a great combination of sweet and fruity flavors.

Our main complaint here is the packaging — the pie slice is wrapped in paper that sticks to the sides and makes a mess when unwrapping. Plus, you’ll have to pay extra to get a bag, and the slice came with a rather cheesy spork for a utensil.
Lemon Curd Cheesecake
So, how does the Lemon Curd Cheesecake stack up against the pie? This was also $17 and described as “our lemon zest cheesecake, graham cracker crust, lemon curd, and freshly whipped cream.”

The cheesecake was delightfully fluffy and that contrasted nicely with the tart lemon curd on top. The Graham cracker crust provided a sturdy, buttery, and crumbly base that added a little bit of chew. You could literally feel the air whipped into the cheesecake and whipped cream on top.

The one small complaint we had here is that the crust was rather thin and got lost a bit under the weighty filling and toppings. A little bit thicker crust would’ve been nice for more Graham cracker flavor.

The packaging for the cheesecake was similarly strange to the pie, though this time, we did get a regular fork to eat it with!

Ultimately, the pie is going to be the better option if you’re craving a sweet and cozy dessert, while the cheesecake is better for those who enjoy something tart and refreshing. We’d probably rank the pie just a smidge higher if we had to choose, but you can’t go wrong with either!
