2026 is literally just days away. We’re gearing up for Christmas, and then it’s New Year’s Eve! 2025 has flown by, and if you were caught off guard as much as us, you might be worrying that it’s too late to plan a Disney World vacation for 2026. After all, we often encourage starting the process WELL in advance.

Dining reservations can be made 60 days in advance, hotels can be booked over a year in advance, and Lightning Lanes can be bought 3 to 7 days in advance. With all these important timelines, is it too late to start planning a 2026 trip now?
The simple answer to this question is: no, it’s not too late to plan a trip to Disney World in 2026. You can always plan a trip, but you may face certain limitations.

For example, if you’re planning a trip for the fall or December 2026, you should still have a lot of freedom to customize for vacation and get what you want. That includes the hotel you would prefer, the table-service restaurants you would enjoy, and certainly the Lightning Lanes you want.

However, if you’re planning a trip for around February or March, you’ll have to be okay with a lack of reservations, customization, and overall options at the resort. Last-minute trips to Disney World can certainly be exciting and fun (sometimes, more so), but they may require you to be more flexible and spontaneous.
You may not get the hotel of your dreams. You may not get a dining reservation to Cinderella’s Royal Table (though it is totally possible to get day-of reservations, but you have to be okay with not getting them, too). And you may not get on every single ride without waiting in long lines.

On the other hand, it might even be too early to book some things now! We suggest waiting a little longer to book your hotel if Disney hasn’t released a hotel or ticket deal for your dates yet. There’s almost always a deal if you time it right. Or, if you don’t like to gamble a little bit, you can always book it now and then call Guest Services after a deal has become available to see if it can be applied to your reservation. The idea here is that you should definitely be on the lookout for hotel and ticket deals!

Another way you might be in luck if you haven’t started planning yet is the update the dining reservation system got. The updates to Disney’s dining reservation system made things a bit easier. Now, the My Disney Experience app and website show clearer availability windows and allow you to filter by meal period, restaurant location, and park, making it simpler to see your best options without endless scrolling.
What Is “Chicken Checking” and Should You Be Doing It for Disney World?

In general, no, it’s not too late to plan a 2026 Disney World vacation now. There’s definitely still time! However, depending on when in 2026 you want to visit, you may have to be more flexible. It’s totally doable, and we’re here to help! Be sure to check out all our planning info and YouTube videos to help you create the best Disney World vacation.
