This Disney World Hotel Perk Is About to Get COMPLICATED

There are quite a few perks to staying on property at a Disney World Resort!

With your resort stay, you can book Lightning Lanes early, book dining reservations for your entire trip at once, and enjoy Early Theme Park Entry. But in 2025, there was a new water park perk that fans loved…and now it’s changing!

This year, guests staying at Disney World Resorts enjoyed a new perk where they could visit a Disney World water park for free on the day of their hotel check-in. The perk was available at whichever water park(s) were open at the time of their visit, as both parks had seasonal operations throughout the year.

From what we’d heard from Disney fans, they were enjoying this bonus perk in 2025, but in 2026, it’s going to be limited. Starting with the new year, the complimentary water park entry will ONLY be available during the summer season.

Disney hasn’t shared what specific dates will be considered “summer” for this perk. They are often a little flexible on dates when referring to seasons of the year — the start of “summer” might mean Memorial Day weekend instead of literally June 21st. However, having this perk available during the hottest months of the year will likely give it more appeal than it has during those few colder months.

One complaint that visitors have shared about the water park perk is that since the water parks close earlier than other parks, and this perk is only available on check-in day, it means that you have to arrive extra early to make use of it. So while you might typically plan your flights or road trip for a mid-afternoon arrival time when your hotel room will be ready, using this water park perk likely means you’ll want to get to Disney World in the morning.

And when you arrive at your hotel in the morning? If your room isn’t ready, you’ll either have to leave your luggage in the car (if you drove), or check it with bell services. There’s some advance planning required since you’ll want to have your pool/beach essentials on hand and your swimsuits readily available.
