The Disney Destiny is ready to set sail SOON, and we’re starting to learn even more about the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

The ship’s theme will be all about heroes and villains, and for the first time ever, a Marvel character, Spider-Man, will be featured on the ship’s stern. But that’s not all; some brand-new dining experiences are coming to the ship, including Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King. Well, Disney just shared a few more details about that dining experience…the costumes!
Pride Lands: Feast of the Lion King is the first of its kind to bring “the iconic songs and legendary moments of the renowned animated classic to life for your family throughout dinner.” During the meal, performers will use authentic African instruments and theatrical props to represent characters from the musical story of The Lion King. You’ll hear songs like Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “He Lives in You” from the Broadway show, and a mashup of “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” with “Be Prepared.”

Of course, you can’t have a dinner show like this without fabulous costumes. We’ve already seen a sneak peek at what Cast Members will be wearing in the restaurant.

However, now, Disney has shared a sneak peek at some of the costumes the performers will be wearing. The costumes take inspiration from various regions of Africa with nods to African culture and The Lion King characters.

For example, many of the costumes contain cowrie shell details inspired by the country of Benin in West Africa. There, the shells symbolize prosperity, wealth, good luck, and…yes…appropriately enough, DESTINY.

The restaurant’s performers and storytellers will also wear specific accessories that represent characters from the movie. For example, Scar’s accessories incorporate lots of black with a headdress that features a single red feather above his left eye to represent his scar.

Of course, those who have booked a cruise aboard the Disney Destiny will have the first chance to see these gorgeous designs for themselves when the ship takes its maiden voyage on November 20th.
