The 2 Worst Restaurants We Visited in Disney World Last Month

Walt Disney World offers a plethora of dining options, from full sit-down restaurants to on-the-go snacks. Across this spectrum, there are plenty of things we LOVE… and occasionally things that, well…

Chef Mickey’s

Recently, I polled my longtime AllEars colleagues to find out the worst culinary decisions they’ve made at Disney World this past month – from restaurants to individual treats – and some of the answers were a bit of a surprise.

*NOTE: Anything involving food is subjective. You may have tried and loved these offerings, and that’s completely valid. It simply wasn’t the case for the members of our team.*

Let’s begin at Chef Mickey’s. The character buffet at the Contemporary Resort is one of the most popular in Disney World, but our most recent visit left much to be desired.

Our reviewer felt the food was just fine, and the character meet & greets were rushed, especially compared to other locations. All for a whopping $75 a person after tax and tip.

Jumping over to Hollywood Studios, one of our team members dined at Hollywood & Vine.

Hollywood & Vine

While this buffet has been a staple at the park for decades, it’s seemingly starting to show its age just a bit. The food wasn’t “bad” in the traditional sense, but it was in our reviewer’s opinion, overpriced for what was offered. This seemed to be backed up by the fact that the dining rooms were mostly empty.

So, on to some further quick hits, as there were several treats that didn’t quite strike our team’s fancy recently:

  • The Apple Cinnamon Cupcake, which can be found across several Walt Disney World Hotels, was a disappointing element of this year’s Halloween/Fall treat selection.
  • The August flavors at Salt & Straw flavors for August were an… acquired taste at best. (Pickle ice cream? Sure.)
  • Finally, Kona Island‘s Moana Mini Cakes were aesthetically cute and had good pops of flavor, but weren’t consistent.
Definitely not your average ice cream

While Walt Disney World’s culinary offerings are usually enjoyable, not everything can be a home run. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Disney’s latest offerings.

  1. I love to visit Disney, the atmosphere somehow makes you feel like you’re a little younger than you really are, BUT prices are getting out of hand. In this article, you mention $75.00 per adult at Chef Mickey’s. Although, totally outrageous, I as an adult can’t eat $75. worth of food but will at least go for seconds and then dessert. The real crime is the amount (around $35.-$40.) you charge for kids 4-10 years of age.
Yes, it always seems like the place is crowded and people will spend the amounts; however, because of the prices, the majority of your guest, say “one and done” because they can’t afford a revisit.
