Find Out What Former Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde Shared About a Popular Disney World Restaurant He Helped Design

Joe Rohde just shared about one of our favorite quick-service locations at Disney World!

The quick-service location just so happens to be one he helped create and we love the thoughts he shared about it.

Joe Rohde is a former executive for Walt Disney Imagineering who played a huge role in designing numerous facets of the Disney parks. He was one of the masterminds behind Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as the Pandora — The World of Avatar land. Joe Rohde also worked on Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa, and much more. He was also recently inducted as a Disney Legend. 

To say we are fans of Joe Rohde is a bit of an understatement, so when we saw that he had made some comments about one of our favorite quick-service restaurants in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we knew we had to share it with you.

Satu’li Canteen is located in Pandora — The World of Avatar and serves up some delicious eats. The restaurant celebrates the art and culture of the Na’vi and the menu is inspired by “Pandora’s bounty.” Some of our favorites include the customizable bowls and the steamed pods, but it is hard to go wrong at this dining location.

Joe Rohde recently retweeted a post on X and made some of his own remarks about Satu’li Canteen. He wrote this about Satu’li Canteen: “An interesting example of theme as opposed to backstory. The food isn’t particularly otherworldly (that would be backstory) but it is expressive of the theme of harmony with nature.”

We completely agree that the food at Satu’li Canteen displays a theme of “harmony with nature.” You see lots of bright colors, fresh vegetables, wholesome grains, and hearty proteins throughout the meals served here.

Satu’li Canteen is tucked inside of a Quonset-hut structure and is owned by Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE). This restaurant serves travelers all the comforts of home through their menu that has been crafted from Pandora’s natural abundance.
