“A Huge Disappointment” — Fan Shares 5 Gripes With Their Last Stay at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

We don’t normally have too many complaints when it comes to Disney World hotels.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

Are some better than others? Well, yes, but it depends on who you ask. Of course, many will tell you that deluxe resorts are better than value resorts, but one of our readers would completely disagree, at least concerning one deluxe resort, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.

One of our readers left a review for Disney’s BoardWalk Inn mentioning how disappointing this hotel was. Granted, it sounds like they had a really bad stay. Now, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is a deluxe resort, meaning that expectations for service are already high (as they should be). The review begins with the reviewer saying they had a room on the third floor facing the courtyard where the movie screen was set up. This led to a noise problem from the movies, as well as with “people screaming on the lawn.”

Noise seemed to be a key factor in the bad review. The reviewer mentioned people yelling in the hallway at night. Here’s the thing: If you do have issues with noise, you can always make a room request before your trip. Or if it becomes an issue and you’re already there, please talk to a Cast Member who may be able to move you to a quieter room.

It seems like there were also some issues with the room itself. The review reads, “We did not have facecloths in the bath and the shower was awful. The faucets were difficult to work with.” We’re almost wondering if this is a room that hasn’t been renovated yet. Some rooms have already received renovations, while others haven’t. We’re not sure why washcloths weren’t provided. The review also said the “room didn’t feel fresh and clean.”

The reviewer also stated that they had refillable mugs that “were useless and inconvenient.” We’re not sure what this means, but many guests do assume that the refillable  mugs are good in the parks (they’re not), which is why we try to make people aware that you can only use them at Disney World resorts.

Disney World Refillable Mugs

The review ended with. “This resort totally ruined my vacation, and I will never stay in this Motel 6 again.” Ouch.

We’ll have to say this review surprised us because we’ve stayed at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn several times and never had these issues. We’re not sure if the resort was just having an “off” week or something, or if the reviewer’s expectations were different than what the resort offered. We would suggest that if you’re having a bad stay at a Disney World hotel, please take your concerns to a Cast Member. They will, more than likely, try to help you out.

However, considering the location (the EPCOT area), there are several other options nearby if that hotel isn’t for you. There’s Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, which is themed like a Cape Cod vacation resort — it’s literally within walking distance.

Disney’s Yacht Club

There’s also Disney’s Beach Club Resort, which is right next door to the Yacht Club (the two share a pool). The theme here is, as the name suggests, a Beach Club.

Disney’s Beach Club!

We also have to add a word here about the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin which isn’t owned by Disney (it’s owned by Marriott), but still gets the same perks as Disney’s deluxe hotels. You earn Marriott Bonvoy points staying at these hotels (and you can spend your points there, too!). You’ll often find lower rates here, and some folks say they experience a higher level of service staying in a hotel run by a big hotel company, rather than by Disney.

We are sad that this reviewer had such a horrible time at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, but if you’re hesitant to stay there, we also hope that we’ve given you some more options to consider.

  1. We have only stayed at Boardwalk one time and we were also disappointed with our stay. We reserved a room with a water view and all we got were trees out of both the living room and bedroom areas. Absolutely no view at all. We were down at the end of a hallway about as far as you can be from anything! The hallway had a musty smell to it the whole time we were there. It was prior to the current renovations and you could tell it needed updated. I was hugely disappointed because I was so excited to finally get a chance to stay at the Boardwalk!

  2. While I feel this person’s disappointment, I have stayed at the Boardwalk Inn , and I have experienced the noise and discomfort from other guest not only there but at most of the resorts we have stayed at, including the Dolphin and the Swan as well as other moderate and Value Resorts.
What is really the problem here is not the Hotels themselves but the guest who have forgotten hotel etiquettes. And quite honestly it is at the finer hotel that are the worst, people don’t respect the other guests, they are loud, there children run amuck and the adults get pissy if you say anything “ they are just being kids”. “ it’s our vacation too” “why did you come to a place like Disney if you didn’t want to be disturbed?
I agree there are places for noise and loud recreation but Please learn and teach proper, politeness while in and around the rooms of a hotel. People expect a level of quiet and serenity during the nights especially.
