One of the most controversial changes Disney World has made over the past three years is the requirement of park pass reservations when visiting one of the theme parks.

The park pass reservations were initially put in place to help Disney World control park capacity, but as of 2024, most people visiting the parks will no longer need to make them. However, it’s still 2023, and park pass reservations are still required, meaning that when they’re gone for a park, they’re gone — and that’s exactly what’s happening today, October 14th, 2023.
Today, Magic Kingdom park pass reservations are completely gone for all ticket holders today. That means if you’d wanted to visit that park today and did not already make those reservations, you won’t be able to get into Magic Kingdom. It also means that the park is at what Disney considers full capacity — in other words, Magic Kingdom is going to be VERY busy today.

If you’re a Disney World Annual Passholder, you’ll notice that park pass reservations for Passholders are also completely gone for the day.

So what should you do if you’re in Disney World? Well, your only other option is to make a park pass reservation for one of the other three parks — we recommend doing that quickly because it looks like Disney World is pretty busy this weekend. So make sure you reserve EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom for the day. However, all may not be loss. Park hopping begins at 2PM, and you may be able to enter Magic Kingdom then.

Note that park hopping will also change in 2024 — the restriction on park hopping after 2PM will be lifted as of January 9th. After that date, you’ll be able to park hop at any time during the day as long as you have a valid ticket with the park hopping option added to it.
We’ll keep an eye on the crowds and situation at Disney World this weekend, so check back with AllEars again soon.
