Looks like dining at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa may have just become slightly more complicated.

Disney hotels are certainly experiencing lots of changes lately! The Disneyland Hotel in California is getting a new Disney Vacation Club villas section added to it, Disneyland’s Paradise Pier hotel is transforming into the Pixar Place Hotel, and we’re tracking the construction progress at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort’s new addition for a DVC tower. But now there’s more to know about — this time at one iconic hotel in Disney World.
A LOT has been happening at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort lately. Several resort rooms have been updated, and recently we spotted more construction set up inside the lobby area. But on a return trip, we found MORE construction outside.

On June 13th, we saw several construction workers hurriedly putting construction walls up around some of the main building of the hotel. You’ll see this construction zone when you’re coming out of the lobby and heading towards the other buildings and marina.

We were going out to grab some food at Gasparilla Island Grill when we happened upon it. You actually have to walk THROUGH the construction to get to the restaurant.

Here’s a full breakdown of what’s going on — when you exit the lobby to go outside, the terrace is blocked in one direction, so you can’t go sit at the tables outside of the Grand Floridian Cafe or walk along the covered walkway to Gasparilla Island Grill for some quick service eats. Construction workers were actively putting up walls around the building and painting them white when we were there.

When you get to Gasparilla Island Grill, there was a break in the walls so you could walk up to the restaurant, but when we visited it was lined with low fences so you could see the whole construction zone. It was also pretty active because we spotted several workers coming and going in our short time there.
Again, as we noted above, keep in mind that there are construction walls up in the lobby area as well and some of the spaces on the upper floors are now blocked off from the lobby view as well.

We’ll keep you updated as we know more about the construction and what work plans to be done here so for the latest in Disney parks news, stay with us at AllEars.
