NEWS: Curfew Now in Place for Select Guests on Carnival Cruise Line Sailings

If you’ve ever been on a cruise and wished that there were more curfews in place for little ones running around the ship, then a recent change on one cruise line might be something you need to know about.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve seen cruise lines make a number of changes when it comes to COVID-19 policies. And in terms of curfews, we saw a curfew put in place (on dry land) over at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk. Now, a curfew has been put in place on a cruise line and it could impact your next travels.

According to Carnival Cruise Line’s website, there is a “youth curfew” now in place that requires guests 17 years old and younger (who are NOT accompanied by an adult in their traveling party that is 21 years old or older) to be clear of all public areas by 1AM each night, unless they’re in a Club 02 or Circle C teen activity.

Again, this would only apply to those 17 and younger who aren’t in one of those specified activities, and who aren’t accompanied by an adult in their party that is 21+.

Carnival’s policy also points out that guests under the age of 21 are allowed to travel without a relative or guardian 25 years old or older under certain limited conditions. Specifically, those conditions are legally married couples or qualified military personnel.

Some documentation of the marriage or proof of service will be required at embarkation if you fall under these exceptions, so keep that in mind.

Carnival isn’t alone in this arena. Some other cruise lines, like Norwegian Cruise Line, do have curfews in place for teens as well. Before you go on your next cruise, be sure to check what rules apply.

As we noted above, this isn’t the only curfew to be put in place recently. In August, Universal Orlando noted that their CityWalk curfew policy had been put back in place on weekends. Thoss under the age of 18 visiting CityWalk on the weekend will have to leave by 9PM unless they are “accompanied by a parent/guardian, are staying at a Universal hotel or planning to see a movie at Universal Cinemark.”
