Disney World has reopened with reduced capacity set at only 25% of its total ability, while Disneyland remains closed for an indefinite amount of time moving forward.

Since the parks have majorly reduced their operations, Disney has made the difficult decision to lay off 28,000 Cast Members domestically. As more information is released about which employees will be let go during this time, both non-unionized and unionized workers are set to undergo these changes.
According to a recent document filed under the Worker Adjustment and Restraining Notification Act (WARN) with Florida, details have been released that 11,350 unionized Cast Members at Disney World will be a part of the layoffs.

While 6,700 non-union Cast Members at Disney World have previously been included in the 28,000 domestic layoffs, unions have consistently been working with Disney to put negotiations in place for their members. The 720 equity performers that have been let go from park entertainment are included in this new number.

Since over 18,000 Cast Members in Disney World will be a part of the layoffs, that means about 10,000 layoffs can be expected for Disneyland.

The 11,350 layoffs of unionized Cast Members will occur by December 31st. As Disney provides more information about which unions and employees will be included, we’ll continue to keep you updated on the evolving situation.
