Construction here, construction there — it feels like there’s construction everywhere in Disney World right now.

As the parks move forward with attractions like the TRON Coaster, nighttime entertainment like Harmonious, and even new features like the EPCOT pylons, other spots around the property are getting a bit of a magical transformation too!
Disney announced back in 2018 that the Swan and Dolphin Resort would be getting an additional 14-story tower called “The Cove” in 2021. However, the name has been changed to “The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve” in the midst of their construction progress.
The area general manager for the Swan and Dolphin, Sean Verney, stated that the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve seemed like the better name choice since it “represents the boutique, sophisticated and relaxing ambiance the hotel will provide guests.”

Last week, crew members working on the resort reached the milestone of the top floor, and put up a steel beam on the 14th story carrying a tree and an American flag (a construction industry tradition). The scheduled opening timeframe for the hotel is Summer 2021.

When the resort opens, it will have 349 guest rooms, including 149 huge suites and presidential suites to accommodate guests. Amenities will include a signature restaurant and bar, a lobby lounge, a grab-and-go market, and a fitness center. Guests will also be able to use all of the amenities at the Swan and Dolphin resort, which include 18 restaurants and lounges, five pools, and the Mandara Spa.

With 2,200 square feet of meeting space, the Reserve can be used for mid-sized groups, including conventions. The top-floor will have an event space that includes theme park views of Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT through the floor-to-ceiling windows, which is ideal for galas or weddings.

As construction nears its finishing stages, we’ll keep you updated on a specific opening date!
