Disney World Files 10 Permits For New Hotel, Hollywood Studios Changes, and MORE

If you’ve visited Disney World recently, you’ve noticed that there is a LOT of construction going on all over the resort. New lands are being added to the parks; there are expansions, a new hotel, new hotel rooms, and so much more happening right now.

We try to keep an eye on all that construction to keep you updated, but one thing that can give us an idea of what’s happening at each construction site is checking for permits that Disney World files with the state of Florida. Well, now, we’ve got ten new permits to tell you about.

Magic Kingdom

Starting in Magic Kingdom, Big Top Souvenirs in Storybook Circus has been closed for a refurbishment. We’ve seen plenty of work happening on the site, and now, a new permit has been filed for that location for general construction, which could mean basically anything.

The contractor is MMR Constructors, a company that has worked with Disney World on many of its other construction projects.

EPCOT

In EPCOT, Disney has filed a new permit to “install set elements” at Refreshment Port. As you may know, Refreshment Port, which is located near the Canada Pavilion, closed in January for a refurbishment, but Disney hasn’t revealed any plans for the location. It looks like something with how it looks could potentially change, according to the new permit.

Disney has not revealed a reopening date for the location, but we’ll let you know if we find out anything.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Animation Courtyard is currently being completely reimagined into The Walt Disney Studios, which will bring some new experiences, activities, characters, and more to the area. A new permit was recently filed there to install set elements for this area as well, maybe even for one of the new attractions coming to this part of Hollywood Studios.

At least part of this new area, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, and The Walt Disney Studios outdoor courtyard will open on May 26th.

Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside

A new permit for general construction has also been filed for work on the main building at Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside Resort. The contractor is Bruns, Inc., a company based in Windermere, Florida.

We’ve been seeing construction at Port Orleans for some time now, and the completion date for the work has been extended to August 2027.  It seems the Riverside main building will be getting some refurbishment, too.

Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge

We’ve seen a lot of progress happening at Lakeshore Lodge, Disney’s new hotel that’s being built near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.  Well, things are about to get even busier there because Disney just filed six permits to install signage around the new resort.

The new hotel will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” Disney has not yet shared an opening timeline for the new resort.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more construction permits, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
