4 Things Cast Members Wish You’d Stop Doing When Checking Into Your Disney World Hotel

Make sure you’re not committing these Disney World hotel faux pas!

Disney’s Art of Animation

Several members of the AllEars team previously worked at Disney World as Cast Members…and we’ve seen a lot. This is especially true for the team members who worked at the Disney World hotels. In fact, we’re sharing with you some things Cast Members wish guests would stop doing during check-in!

Next time you stay at a Disney World hotel try to avoid doing these 4 things during your check-in…

Expecting Specific Room Requests to be Ready Early

You absolutely can make room and location requests before your stay at a Disney hotel. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with doing so! With that in mind, if you can be accommodated, understand that the hotel likely has to make some time sacrifices to make it work.

These requests likely mean waiting longer for a ready room, since you can’t be put into the next available room. If time is of the essence, avoid making these kinds of requests. Otherwise, practicing patience and understanding that the hotel is taking its time to make sure you get the room you desire is key.

Asking for Magical Moments

So here’s the thing — so many people visiting Disney World are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other monumental milestones. Catering mostly to these people is just not the most realistic request.

Free buttons!

Cast Members will be more than happy to give you a FREE celebration button, but sending free things to every room celebrating something just ain’t gonna happen.

Cast Members may provide magical moments on the fly when a family has a nice or special interaction with them, but it should never be expected. Some families specifically ask for free stuff, and when — really — that kind of thing happens at random.

Not Informing the Concierge of Requests

ALWAYS alert the concierge of requests you might have at check-in to avoid complicated room changes later on.

Remember: Requests are never guaranteed, but it never hurts to ask! And if it’s something the hotel can accommodate, it’s better to let the staff know before you get settled into a room — at least for the sanity of you and the Cast Members.

Avoiding New-Age Check-In Methods

Going straight to the desk to check in was how lodging has worked EVERYWHERE for decades — but Disney has implemented a mobile check-in service as well as lobby touch screens to speed up the process.

Sometimes, people will dismiss the concierge with the screens and wait at the desk for someone when they could’ve been helped earlier. When it comes to checking into your hotel in 2026, it’s never a bad idea to read the fine print on your app or in your email. Of course, if you want to avoid unnecessary waits, the age-old tactic of asking Cast Members for help before getting in a long check-in line still works!

Ultimately, Cast Members are here to help, and if you go into a check-in prepared and equipped with the right knowledge of hotel dos and don’ts, you should be just fine!
