Disney’s Pop Century Resort is one of the most fun and affordable places to stay at Disney World.

This Value Resort celebrates the fads, music, toys, and trends of the 1950s through the 1990s, with over-the-top theming that makes it feel playful and energetic from the moment you check in. Guests love the larger-than-life icons, dedicated decade sections, the Hippy Dippy Pool, and, maybe most importantly, its access to the Skyliner. That Skyliner access is one of Pop Century’s biggest selling points, but it can also create a late-night transportation dilemma if you’re not careful.
Why Pop Century Is So Popular
Pop Century stands out for convenience and value. It shares a Skyliner station with Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, giving guests quick access to:
The Skyliner is fast, scenic, and often more relaxing than bus transportation. For many guests, it’s the reason they book Pop Century in the first place. But here’s where the “danger” comes in.

Skyliner Hours
Disney Skyliner does not operate 24/7. The Skyliner begins running 1 hour before Early Theme Park Entry at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, and it stops operating 90 minutes after those parks officially close. At first glance, 90 minutes seems generous, but at Disney World, time slips away from you.
You can enter an attraction line up until 1 minute before park closing, meaning that “last ride of the night” could keep you inside the park for another hour. Or say you have a late dining reservation, hanging out in a lounge, or stop for nighttime photos, and suddenly that 90-minute window feels very short. If you miss it, your easy ride home disappears.

Extended Evening Hours? Not So Fast.
It gets even more confusing on nights when EPCOT offers Extended Evening Hours. You might assume the Skyliner would remain open later for everyone, but that’s not how it works. On Extended Evening Hours nights, Skyliner service only continues for guests staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort, since it’s the only deluxe resort on that line, and Extended Evening Hours are exclusive to deluxe resort guests. If you’re staying at Pop Century, that late-night Skyliner ride is not available to you. So while you might not be at Extended Evening Hours, let’s say you’re having a late-night dinner at Topolino’s Terrace, you won’t be able to take the Skyliner back to Pop Century.

Another surprise for many guests: Disney typically does not provide a bus alternative at the end of the night for resorts that rely on Skyliner, unless there’s bad weather or maintenance involved. So once the Skyliner shuts down, you may not have a free, direct Disney transportation option back to Pop Century.

What If You Miss It?
First, don’t panic; it’s happened. You’re not stranded. But you will need a backup plan.
Option 1: The Disney Springs Route
If it’s still open, you can take a bus from a park or nearby resort to Disney Springs, then transfer to a Pop Century bus there. It’s free, but it can add significant time to your night.
Option 2: Ride-Share
Uber and Lyft both operate across Disney World property, and every park and Disney Springs has designated pick-up and drop-off locations. Lyft is Disney’s official ride-share partner and offers Minnie Vans, which are Disney-themed vehicles driven by Cast Members, though they cost more than standard ride-share options. It’s the fastest solution, but it’s also an unexpected expense.

This just means if you are planning on being out late one evening on vacation, be sure to have a game plan for when you need to head back on the Skyliner. For more Disney tips, be sure to follow AllEars.net.
