It’s no secret that Disney World has a lot of dining options spread across property, including everything from quick service locations and food courts to a LITERAL MICHELIN Star-winning restaurant located at Disney hotels.

However, not every Disney World hotel dining experience is created equal — believe me, I’ve tried them all! These are the ones in each resort category — Deluxe, Value, and Moderate — that I do my best to avoid, and where I go instead!
Let’s start with the Value Resorts, where it’s probably best to avoid the food options at the All-Star Resorts. So, the food courts aren’t TERRIBLE (admittedly, I’m a huge fan of the green beans and mashed potatoes sides, for example. Pair them with salmon and it’s no joke one of my favorite meals in Disney World), but they’re overall not something to write home about either, with dishes like pasta being consistently inconsistent at best. On top of that, the pool bars at all three All-Stars are generally disappointing, though the bartenders tend to make the best of it.

On the other hand, Pop Century blows away the field as far as Value Tier Dining is concerned. The food court — Everything Pop! — is better, the pool bar — Petals — is better, and the resort has access to the Skyliner!

(Okay, so that last one isn’t about food, but I’ll never miss a chance to shoutout the Skyliner!)

Moving on to the Moderate Tier, there’s Port Orleans Riverside. Once again, food at this hotel isn’t terrible by any means — I’ve personally had a good meal at Boatwright’s Hall — but it’s also wildly inconsistent.

Now, Riverside’s sister hotel — Port Orleans French Quarter — is another story thanks to the Scat Cat Club Lounge & Cafe.

This jazz lounge always has fun cocktails, and you certainly can’t forget the beignets!

Okay, when it comes to Deluxe Tier Resorts, I’m sure to ruffle a few feathers here, but I’m going to have to go with the Yacht Club’s restaurants, including Ale & Compass and Yachtsman. I know they have their diehard fans, but to me, they simply don’t stand out in the grand scheme of Disney restaurants. I do love the Ale & Compass lounge, though!

Now, admittedly, part of my Yacht Club thoughts stem from the fact that they are SO close to the Beach Club dining options, including the Cape May Cafe and Beaches and Cream.

On top of that, both resorts are just a short walk from both the Boardwalk (Cake Bake Shop, Flying Fish, Trattoria al Forno), and of course, the Swan and Dolphin Resorts and their 23 restaurants, including Rosa Mexicano, Bourbon Steak, as well as more casual options, including Garden Grove and Fountain.

In the end, though, even the “worst” of the options still has some solid offerings, meaning the moral of the story is you can’t really go THAT wrong from a food perspective at these Disney hotels. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Disney dining!
